My Roadstar pop top has had silicon sealer spread in and along the horizontal seams in the cladding at the rear, the silicon seems to be about 10mm either side of the seam bit is almost invisible until I tow the van in a dusty area, then I have a dusty line across the back of the van on each seam, I have tried to clean it off so I dont have to scrub each seam after each trip.

Nothing seems to dissolve the silicon so I have a clean surface. I am thinking of eventually repainting the rear of the van but the paint probably wont stick to silicon.

Does anyone have any ideas to remove the silicone, I have tried all sort of stuff, thinners, WD40, a bit of carby cleaner, sugar soap, turps, and etc.

I might destroy the paint but not get rid of all the silicon.
