Liverpool Plains

Freedom camping areas - Liverpool Plains Shire Council (nsw.gov.au)

The Liverpool Plains is traditionally a drive-through area, the gateway between the Hunter Valley and the New England Northwest.

Abundant in beautiful scenery, fascinating history and man-made attractions, has led to an increase in stopovers with many visitors choosing to slow down and have a look around. Visitors can stay at one of six freedom camping areas in the villages surrounding Quirindi.  Each freedom camping area offers free hot showers, toilets, gas BBQ and plenty of space.  They are all pet-friendly 72 hour stay areas. The freedom camping areas in Willow Tree and Premer offer powered sites - in Willow Tree, it costs $15 per night, and in Premer there is a Lion's Club donation box.

All freedom camping areas are unmanned, but do have donation boxes at each site.

Not sure what year it was, but I can recommend the Willow Tree (I think they called it "Freedom Camping Ground") or words to that effect

I had left Tamworth, on the way to Richmond, north of Sydney, and was looking for a place to park up, for a few hours rest

Wife spotted the sign so I drove in (it a a big area), parked under a tree, had a snooze, and woke up close to the evening, so I stayed where I was

Next morning I spotted RV's near the ablution block, and went to say hello

Found out that it was a paid camp of (forgot how much), to be paid at the tourist info place to obtain key (or key code)

Waited for the info place to open, and gave a donation, as I for one appreciate when a free/donation/low cost camp opens

In my opinion, the best way to use this camp in the summertime, is to pay the $15 to use the electricity

This is only my personal opinion, but until Covid-19 goes away, I will only use my own toilet and shower, just to be careful
