Just in the hope of someone on here may have seen them
From SAPOL
Police are seeking help from the public to help locate a couple missing from Victoria who have been travelling through South Australia.
Valerie (73) and Laurance (76) Elliott were recently travelling from Victoria through to Western Australia. They last spoke with family on Tuesday 13 July when they phoned to advise they had stopped in Ceduna. They intended to drive on to the WA border the following day, Wednesday 14 July however family have not heard from them since and they have concerns for their welfare.
Valerie Elliott is described as 163cm tall with short brown/red hair and uses a walking frame. Laurance is described as 191cm tall with a large build and receding grey hair.
The couple are travelling in a white Ford Ranger with VIC registration XRX278 and towing a caravan.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts or may have spotted them travelling is asked to contact the police assistance line on 131 444.
They could be anywhere on the Nullarbor if they got thru, they may have parked out the back of one of those rest areas out there. We stopped once in 05' about 100km from Eucla, up the back of a rest area bout 2km in, and subsequently had a an electrical problem with the car, took me two weeks to bypass the ECU , and rewire the car so we could move on. I hope they are just out of phone range, but I think the police will have to go into all the camping areas out there if they are really in a pickle.
Looking for a quiet space at night on the Nullarbor they could have driven into one of these.
Yes the Nullarbor can be an extremely dangerous, particularly to those who may not be aware.
Lets hope that they have just taken a detour up toward the railway line to visit a rail siding or town and not mentioned their plans to family.
Maybe another problem is that once across the border the WA police need to be aware but I would imagine the police would contact their counterparts across in WA

We always carry a sat.phone, and I also do this on the bike. It is mainly to be used in the outback, but it is used even locally as we only have about 20% coverage( Mobile phones), which is ridiculous, for out the back of Armidale NSW.

There is quite a black hole for mobile coverage on the SA side of the border pretty much through to Nundroo. Dodgy coverage at Nullabor roadhouse if you are on Telstra but none on Optus.
They probably are not permitted to cross into WA at the moment even if they have a G2G pass as it is currently a hard border closure.
An Update.
Today, a Mate (Mischief) travelling to Norsemen, 120Km out came across and van and a vehicle beside the highway , the vehicle with the bonnet up in the rain. stopped his Tug/van and went back to help the above travellers. The vehicle had either blown a hose or radiator as their was radiator fluid all over the engine. He had a Mobile phone with aerial connection and mobile phone aerial on the roof of his tug but unfortunately No Telstra Signal at this part of the road. No signal either for the Vic Travellers Optus phone.
A Pilot for a wide vehicle load ( wide load in a parking bay further back) stopped to offer assistance as did a road train with 3 trailers going to Adelaide. Mate took the Vic's travellers details, Kal friends phone number and travelled onto to Norsemen to arrange a flat tray for the vehicle and a tow for the van back to Norsemen. He Informed police, and tried the Kal friends who did not answer their phone. Other calls may have been made that I do not know about.
Mate beat the WA/Sa Border closedown, the Vic Travellers will bunker down I understand in Norsemen.

Hopefully they are now safe in Norsemen.
Hi Peter,
Are you reporting that this incident involves the same travellers?
Yes, I did phone back and confirm with him that they were the Elliotts, because he told me they were in a Newlands Van and the photo above shows a Kingdom. He mentioned the Ford Ranger and that both were in their 70's, the wife with a medical condition and they were the couple mentioned on TV/paper.
"I know that our children (early 50's), worry about us"
Our kids were well trained when we took off for China while they were still in uni. However we have carried a Garmin Inreach satellite tracker for several years all over the world so they and anyone else that might be interested (eg sister who travels along with us even though she is stuck in a wheelchair back home) know precisely where we are every 10 minutes and know precisely where we camp every night. If we intend to stay longer, then they get a message to say so. We can also send and receive sms texts at any time and declare an emergency at the push of a button. No excuse for causing unnecessary consternation.

Wow,
This is becoming a real saga.
I thought WA was closed to Victoria and SA but these closures are very hard to keep up with.
Mate went thru the border check(with the Forms/internet processed OK) in a morning days ago and it closed at 6pm that night ( he did not need to self isolate), my understanding is that the Elliott's came after and had to self isolate in a designated place, from memory Kal, but because of the breakdown maybe change to Norsemen. SA access to WA could have further restrictions due to our additional cases.
We went to WA in May and at a great rest area out from border village rather than staying the night, crossed into WA early evening with Fruit/police checks. WA Border had restrictions for SA entrants next day at 10am.
