Hi everyone, I'm looking at buying a 2010 Royal Flair van Royce Elite off-road caravan, and would love to hear from anyone with any experience or knowledge of them. Cheers, Outback Zack.
A few months ago I asked a similar question about a particular brand of caravan and admin pulled my post a few days later advising legal action could be brought about if any defamatory negative replies were posted. I must admit there were some comments about Lemon Caravans. Just saying.
I don't see any issue with similar questions providing positive answers were given. If the OP received nothing, then they could assume two things - no-one had experience or the products weren't good. Then you'd go hunting elsewhere.
And yes, some of us are aware of former members being taken to the courts, their membership scrapped. Unfortunately with emails, you have no control over where they go. Unless you have something positive to say, DON'T SAY IT!

There is no legal problem with making adverse comments about products provided they are true, not just hearsay. That doesn't mean the manufacturers legal eagles won't write to you and cause you grief. Best not to comment in the first place.

You can say what you like so long as you are prepared to back it up in a court of law if required to do so.
If what you say is true and you can prove that then you don't have a problem.
The Deralas family have been building Royal Flair caravans for 40 years so they must be doing something right!

That is not the case at all Montie. If a party brings an action against another party then the burden of proof rests with the person bringing the claim. The defendant in the action bears no burden. The person bringing the action must prove the statement not only is incorrect but as a result of the incorrect statement that a loss has incurred. Under the Defamation Act a corporation cannot sue in defamation unless it is an excluded corporation, namely employing under ten people from memory. The only action they may bring is for injurious falsehood where not only do they have to prove the statement was untrue but as a result of that untrue statement they suffered loss.
We are so blessed on this forum. A caravan salesman giving free legal advice whilst heaps of other unqualified people giving medical advice and demanding others to follow their medical directions.

And a solicitor who seems to have endless advice on everything....we are indeed blessed!

I'm sorry I started all this, hope I haven't ruined any friendships or caused any arguments amongst anyone. Had a good chat with my brother-in-law (ex caravan industry) and he didn't have anything bad to say about Royal Flair, and told me what to look out for. Also said the same as Montie, they've been building caravans for over 40 years, if they were no good they wouldn't still be in business. I'll wait till the current lock-down here in Vic is over and probably buy it. Thanks for all your input and encouragement, I'll let you know what happens. Cheers for now.

Zack,
As you are looking to purchase an 11 year old van I would strongly recommend that you have it inspected by an experienced person.
As Royal Flair are a timber frame van pay particular attention to any water leak evidence that may have developed over the years and not been rectified.
G'day Zack,
Sorry to think you have started a wrong topic. I was peeved at how this seemed to me to degenerate into legal b s, and not address tour perfectly reasonable question.

Commenting on any brand on a social media platforms such as forums can have legal implications and consequences
In today's litigious environment that is a reality.

I'm uncertain of legal implications. If concerned simply PM the OP with your comments.
Thanks for the input, Montie and Craig, as it's turned out, the caravan got sold even though we were in lockdown. I'll keep on looking, but seriously considering building my own off-road unit now. Could be a good way to keep occupied for the next 6 to 12 months while we're waiting for covid lockdowns to stabilise. cheers for now, Zack.
