Stop red dust coming in !

Ive read a number of suggestions like scupper vents (theres one no our van), but Ive heard they can make it worse, especially if youre following someone, or meet vehicles coming other way. Then theres dust reduction systems, fans etc for positive pressure. The best and most cost effective idea to me seems to be tape or Velcro covers over vents etc.  Anyone have experience in dealing with this and is it ok to cover over the fridge vent for example ? Cheers

No, not whilst the fridge is operating, whether that be by 12V, 240V or gas.

I saw a suggestion to cut out a vacuum filter or similar to put in vent to stop a lot of the dust, think that would be ok ?

Anything which impedes airflow through the fridge cooling system is going to cause its performance to deteriorate - how much such a filter will do so by is difficult to even guess. Buy a fridge thermometer then try the filter and see but my guess is it won't be acceptable.

We don't run our fridge when driving, never have, even with the last van. Have not put velcro covers on this van , but did do on my Millard. I used clip studs so wind would not flip them off as well as velcro. I even put them on the door. I just unclipped them when I was camped up, and it did work, no more dust inside. I avoid dirt roads a lot now so don't need them. Use cloth backed vinyl, it is easier to work with and lasts longer.

Thanks for the tips. Will probably do something similar before heading on dirt roads. Cheers
