Why?

The paddock we are presently in would be approx 5 acres. In comes a van and parks right in front on me, 10 minutes later another van pulls up and parks right on my tail..why?

I think some people feel more secure when they have others nearby

All you need is  a light weight folding  box ,painted red or blue and with vents cut into it, out front with a nice brightly coloured electrical lead back to under your van - they will not park next to what they will interpret , on initial looks, as  a Gen Set (horror of horrors....!)

Humans are herd animals so they love to congregate.

Back in the days, when you could carry guns, my wife and I were on a tenting trip around OZ. We pull in to an out of the way campsite, no one around and set up our tent, In comes a guy and his missus,, and sets up 10 m from us, their were 50 sites they could have gone to but, no, right on top of us. So I said lets move. Whilst we are setting up again, he moves to within 8m of us. So I go to him, and ask what gives, they said they were scared. So to make them more scared, I got out my rifle and started to clean it, he saw it, and they were packed up and gone in 3 minutes. You would think, they would see that we would want privacy, when we moved the first time, but no, he wanted to be in the tent with us.

Bicyclecamper:

A couple of years ago I was camped in the forest high up on the Murray River in Victoria, just a rough camp in the middle of nowhere, it was dark and my phone rang - it was a long time girlfriend and I told her where I was: she replied "Aren't you scared?" - I answered "No" - there was a pause then she said "No... I suspect other people are scared of you...." - I took it as a compliment :)

I suppose these days one could prop up a shovel in view & be seen sharpening an axe & knife etc.

One afternoon where we were set up, there was more space than on a 36 hole golf course. Another lot set up right next to us. They did go the next day, but really, we live in a block of units & it is nice to get away from the neighbours.

A few years ago we were camped at Cameron's Corner in about a zillion acre paddock and, you guessed it, the other sole camper that night camped virtually on top of us. The person in the store told us to pick a spot and I thought I had the ideal isolated spot. Luckily we were on an overnight stop on the way to Innamminka.

OMG, how would it be if they joined your campfire and began to mention weights and measures, simple physics and pig trailers.

Oh no!

That comes under the category of "a cruel and unusual punishment" :)

Just add a speaker to the fake generator box and play generator sounds.  That will top off the charade.
