Recall Suzuki, Volvo, Kia, and Jeep Cherokees.

An urgent nationwide recall has been issued for thousands of cars after a spate of serious faults which could potentially cause injury or death were detected.

Product Safety Australia issued a series of recalls on Sunday which affect popular models including Suzuki, Volvo, Kia, and Jeep Cherokees.

Suzuki issued an alert for more than 4,000 Jimny A6G415 vehicles manufactured in 2019 and 2020 due to door harness wires which could be damaged or cut by the repeated motion of opening or closing the doors.

More than 200 Jeep Cherokees (KL) made in 2021 have also been recalled over fears the transmission oil cooler hose may have been manufactured with incorrectly cured rubber, which could cause transmission fluid to leak and spark a car fire.

Some 527 Vovlo UD pPNLT Quon trucks from 2017-2019 are also on the recall list, as some of the bearing cups in the front and/or interaxles have been assembled without a thrust washer.

The universal joint may ultimately break if the vehicle is operated with this defect, potentially disastrous when the car is in motion.

There are also serious concerns about more than 200 Suzuki Jimny A6G415 vehicles built in 2018 due to an incorrect manufacturing process with the fuel pump, which could become inoperative and cause the engine to stall while driving.

Affected car owners will be contacted directly and are urged to contact their nearest authorised dealer service department to arrange inspection and repair.
