Gold Coast Caravan Sites

Hi all....new member....first post. We have made a recent decision to retire and want to be on the Gold Coast to visit family over the Christmas period. We have missed the boat as far as getting into caravan parks is concerned because you need to book 12 months in advance with most of them. Does anybody know of any other camping places anywhere between Tweed Heads and Southport or 20km into the interior where we could park a 21ft van including power? Hopefully someone may have done a farm stay or camped on a private block of land.....anything really.

James sharp park ( behind Nerang) now has powered sites. You probably have to book to get a powered site. Great bush setting. Cheers Pete

G'day Willis,
Welcome to the forum - I trust you will enjoy your time here & learn heaps (as we all do), as well as assisting when you can.
I personally don't like crowds, big cities so my chance of going to the GC with a van on the back is very rare. Some of the members stay at show grounds - check them out. Most provide power to some of the sites.

All the best.

We live on the Gold Coast. All I can say is good luck. The council wont even consider a dump point. Very anti RV.

Hi Willis

Yep it can be daunting. Some folks like the "Camps Australia" book as I do. With that book you can also install all that info int a suitable gps. No point telling you how as I don't' know you situation on these item etc.

I have met folks that had the book and didn't know how to use it....There is a bit of a learning curve.smile

But let me say I can push the "camps" button on my GPS and it will give me a free camp with in a 100 klms. Other have other search apps for camps on their phones.

I only have the above and have never been let down for a free camp for a night. Even if it wasn't the first choice.
