Welcome to GN's Rod - The road conditions may vary at any time of year, although now there is very little gravel road left.

Which is your intended way through to Cape York? Where will you be travelling from? What vehicle do you have and what van will you be travelling with?

The one we used was Mt Carbine Caravan Park (Kui Parks.) If you stay a night or three either side of your trip to the cape they let you abandon your van off power at the back of the park free whilst you do the trip. Other possibilities are Lakeland Caravan Park and Quinkan Remote Community Campground.

There is about 570km of graded gravel roads from the end of the bitumen at Laura and the Tip.
It can be corrugated and dusty, especially after school holiday crowds, but there is nothing to stop a carefully driven caravan from going all the way.

There is a lot to see and do, so allow plenty of time.
