Thanks Possum,for posting this.For the moment,I will refrain from comment,other than to say these proposed rules certainly will sort the men from the boys. Of particular interest is that monocoque or unitary vehicles cannot be upgraded.Cheers

At the bottom of possums' link RV daily state that if you drive into QLD and are found overweight by their standards you will be fined. This cannot happen if you are legal in your state of registration. Another reason why RV daily should be taken with a grain of salt.

Makes sense to me. After all it is about the "package", not just springs.

I love the reference to J2807, even the best SSM's wouldn't have pockets deep enough to carry out the testing on the wide range of vehicles upgraded in AU,.

J2807 is a seies of tests established by the Society of American Engineers, which at the end of the day it's not manditory, many manufactures don't comply who export vehicles to the USA, many of the big manufactures like Ford USA have tested their vehicles inline with J2807.

WA is pretty much as per Queensland and does not allow GCM upgrades. This is because there is no recognised test regime in Australia. The Standard quoted in an earlier post is an American Standard and currently not recognized here. If they do allow it, the testing regime will be such that it will be better to buy a bigger tug in the first place, as they will be looking at brakes, power and the whole drive train, so it maybe that you start out with a Ranger and modify it to end up with a F150. Buy the F150 to start with.
