We had ours last Tuesday & we too are booked in for the flu shot & the 2nd AV.  No side effects yet.

Wife and I had our first AZ jab on Friday. I had slight headache on Friday night which went after taking paracetamol. The wife woke Saturday with a thumping headache, very sore arm and feeling unwell. She has come good now but her arm is still sore and she has a red hard area at the injection site about the size of a twenty cent coin.

Its normal to have slight flue like symptoms! Its preparing your immune system ! So it fights it when you get it full time !! Not me yet Im too young at 67 ., Let the people who really need it get it !!

Booked ours today for the 26th of April. I want to get it out of the way so we can get some traveling done this year with a bit of luck.

I haven't had mine yet and remain uncertain as to whether I will in the future. There are a few things that I find quite disconcerting. I remember since the virus first became news that it was serious and could even lead to death. Countries were ravaged by this virus and even here in Oz there were hundreds of deaths. We then hear about this vaccine and hope springs eternal. We now have the latest update from the "experts" and it is advised that persons under the age of 50 not have the AZ vaccine. As the other alternatives are in short supply I ponder this question: If we know the hideous repercussions of contracting the virus and that the so called likelihood of complications or adverse reactions to the vaccine is minimal, why are persons under the age of 50 being advised to forego the AZ vaccine. Isn't the message, "you are better off running the risk of catching the virus and having its effect then taking the vaccine and risking its effects? It has to be one or the other. Either the vaccine is more risky than the virus or that you have zero chance of catching the virus.

Another thing that troubles me is how does the vaccine know that you are either under or over the age of 50. What if you are an extremely fit 60 year old or a slothful, overweight unhealthy 40 year old? Could it be that the over 50s are more expendable?

The other thing that I think about are people's reactions to getting the vaccine. Does it really matter what you feel like at the time of getting the vaccine or a week later. Isn't the real test what condition you are in six or maybe twelve months from now.

I am not trying to put the frighteners into anyone nor am I anti vaccinations.  Perhaps I just don't believe the messengers or have too much time on my hands.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DMaxer the advice isn't 'NOT' to have the vaccine if under 50. The advice is that is 'MAY' carry some risks so if you are worried avoid getting it. There is NO ban on those under 50. Some states, for whatever reason, have made some changes to the CMO's advice. That's all.

I read that the chances of getting covid is approx 100 per million. The chances of clotting from the vaccine is 4 per million. So if you don't get vaccinated good luck. But I know what risk I'll be taking. Which has the higher risk? By the way the same risk comes from other drugs. It's not unique to the covid vaccine.

Again the media and some politicians are milking the issues for all they can get out of what is regarded by the experts as a very very low risk.

Looking at the number of people suffering blood clots with the AZ vaccine and the much smaller number of those who die I am astonished it is being withdrawn from under 50s in Oz. Your chances of being killed in a car crash this year are far higher. I strongly suspect this was a political rather than a medical decision.

I'll have whichever vaccine my quack recommends.

We have been told today you have a much much higher chance of winning loto than getting clots from the vaccine. That's from Australias top "expert". So do we believe the "experts" or the politicians or media? Nothing in life is 100% guaranteed. I'll take the chance with whatever vaccine is offered. And before anyone asks if I know what I'm talking about, I do. I almost died from pe. Blood clots. I'm as high a risk as they come. But I reckon that the odds are pretty good.

DMaxer choose your "expert". Australias CMO is who I call the main "expert". I don't consider WAs "expert" any smarter than all those rolled out over the past 12 months. Why do folks get so irrational when someone puts up an alternative view? If you don't agree ok. But keep your hair on. Jeez.

Why is it that up to 1% of long haul flights result in blood clots. DVT. Yet we are ok with that risk. Yet the vaccine is way way less of a risk. And we're not ok with that risk. A risk that is way less than the risk from covid.

Hi Mike. I think that is a good idea waiting for your GP's advice and following that. I don't think you will have to wait too much longer. I see the AMA are just waiting for the Govt to agree for either a disclaimer or an acceptance that they will pick up the bill for any liability exceeding 500K for any individual claim for damages. Once that is sorted it is onwards and upwards.

DMaxer I guess I have as much expertise as you in the matter. None. But when we start choosing who to believe based on our own fear the judgments get clouded. My guess is that the boss of the TGA has all the information that you and I don't have. I'll believe him thanks very much. After all they are the folks who are responsible for every other medication we take in Australia. So why wouldn't we trust them?

It hasn't been delivered to our area yet, and I checked , I am in 1a, so have not received it yet. My doc, said it is a long way away for us.
