COVID Corner

Hi,

we intend to depart Cairns in two weeks time heading for WA via Ayers Rock, traveling through Warburton, Leonora, on to Geraldton and to Broome.

With the current G2G application, which has a self-quarantine direction, we need to supply a quarantine address, which of course we do not have and it seems the only quarantine facilities are around Perth.

Has anybody discovered a way around this problem or has anybody been actually stopped and questioned by local police or quarantine officials?

Of course our biggest fear is arriving and then to be told to quarantine for two weeks in an expensive hotel.

We are aware the quarantine situation can change overnight.

But we would very much appreciate your feedback and/or personal experience with COVID directions and the crossing of the WA border.

Thank you,

Lidia

Do you intend to comply completely with the rules of the day or to try to circumvent them?
Cheers,
Peter

I use an app called "Coronavirus" - goverment one that collates all state information with links to the relevant state info Web sites and links to fill out entry approvals if required We have crossed borders 6 times recently with travel permits being required 4 times and which were checked on entry twice.

Being on the road in a motorhome, we don't care about delays, or even having to isolate in the motorhome , but I would care about having to pay thousands of dollars to do it in a hotel room.

Planning for an extended trip is just impossible given the attitudes of most of the states and even worse, getting somewhere is no guarantee you will be able to get back again

Hi Peter and Margaret,

We will try to go by whatever the rules of the day are and do the right thing, but if the WA govt can tell us at any time while we are there to go into a 2-week isolation, we are having a serious rethink.

Hi Tony,

I agree, we would not mind a delay either. All part of the adventure.

We dont know if our slide-on would pass all the govt quarantine stipulations.

The WA form does not let us complete the entrance form without nominating the name and address of a govt approved quarantine hotel.

"We will TRY to go by whatever the rules of the day are". Be assured you will, repeat will, go by the WA Government rules are. Several have not followed the rules and as a result received serious penalties. Our "slammers" in WA  are not very pleasant as some have found out.

Anyhow, I do hope you do visit our great state and enjoy what it has to offer.

 Just installed that app.

Lol. They still don't make it easy. About 5 web pages/ links to flick through to apply for a permit to enter Vic. Crazy stuff.
