Welcome to GN's Dcar, The only way to correctly ascertain what an Insurance Company's position is regarding self-fitment of any appliance requiring direct wiring (not fitted with a plug), would be to pose the question to your insurer.
Opinions proffered on a site such as this often bear no resemblance to actual happenings.

Thankyou possum3 for your reply yes that was my next avenue to take, interested to hear from others if they had problems I have the ability to install my self just curious Cheers mate
Essentially; insurance companies must show that anything you modified "materially" contributed to a failure, so if you do a workman-like install all will be good.
Otherwise we'd be in a situation where taping a photograph of your children to the caravan wall constituted a "modification" and could invalidate the policy - such is, of course, nonsense.
In any event, I'm not aware of the trade of "Caravan Diesel Heater Fitter" :)
PS. After 18 months my self fitted $180 ebay diesel heater is working a treat :)

There are several facebook groups dealing with Chinese diesel heaters, some having tens of thousands of members, and while every conceivable problem is raised, burning down the whole rig is not one of them
