We are a couple of old farts that are used to "the Öutback" stayed two nights (2016) - you really need to be self sustained, no power available - there is an on-site Bar of an evening and a communal camp-fire. One night would have been more than enough for us - (don't need to feed donkeys or camels) travellers with kids appeared to enjoy a couple of days. Owners friendly and personable. They also have accommodation cabins for rental.
We would in all probability never go back, unless taking young kids for a day visit.

Powered sites available. Amenities were VERY rustic but useable. We enjoyed our stay, only did one night and thats probably enough. It was a good stopover in our journey and would go again without a doubt.
Very welcoming hosts, communal campfire and hosts joined us for drinks. Dont expect anything flash, not much to do other than wander the grounds, but did the job!!
We will be stopping there on our way from Brizzy to Broome. I read there is a waterhole that is suppose to worth walking to. Hopefully will have water and can swim in it.
Banka Banka is part of the Kidman (or whatever its current business name is) cattle empire and has been the training centre for new jackaroos / jillaroos for many years. BB is one of 20 or so stations all linked together across the Top End, and for us visitors it becomes part of their training regime for the JJ's to give us (the audiance) an outline of their training and station life.
We have listened / enjoyed these talks on 4 or 5 occasions over the last 15 yrs, and each is different in various ways because of the different young people doing the talk.
As others have mentioned, the facilities are "a bit sparse" when compared with a traditional caravan park, but that is part of the attraction of the place
We were there for a night in July 2019. It is basic but well worth the $20 we paid. The sites are on grass which is a bit of a luxury in this barren region. There were a few powered sites as well.
They have an entertainer and large communal campfire each night, all for free (we were happy to chip in with a donation).
There are 2-3 animals that may be of interest to some children.
If we were going that way we would definitely stay again, but just for a stopover. In season it fills up most nights.
thanks for the replies. we have booked in there for 3 nights, 2full days. there will be 8 of us in 5 vans so dont think we will get bored. can always take a trip down to Tennant Creek one of the days if we are. new managers started there 3 days ago. they are also adding more powered sites in the next month or two.

It's been a few years since we stopped at Tennant Creek.
A rather quiet CP, perhaps because the paddy waggon did two or three laps of the park every day. I assume that this was to keep out non residents & perhaps to check on number plates of the law abiding old farts.
I do recall that here was no take away booze sales on a certain day of the week. Pension day?
Also, it was there that we had our first encounter with talking supermarket cash registers. As items were scanned it spoke the name & price of the item.
BTW Tennant Creek is the site of RM Williams' old Gold Mine.
