Samsung Galaxy S8

We retired our 4 year old Samaung S8, because it developed a swollen battery and cracked the back cover. I had a look on Mr Google about the prevelence of batteries swelling, the issue whilst is there, its primally caused by using elcheapo NFC chargers and non genuine 240v chargers, which generate a lot of heat and cause the gases to expand and the battery swells up, a potential event could lead to it catching fire. Feel the back of your phone just after charging if its very hot you may be using the wrong charger.

As a result of this down to Mr Telstra shop and picked up a new Samsung Galaxy A11 deice repayment a little over $10 per month for 24 months and new plan a 180gb data with unlimited calls and txts nationally normally $115 pm discounted to $65pm for 12 months.

The old S8 was using a 12mth Boost sim with a 115gb data etc etc, we put that in the ne A11, and the new sim went into The tablet which had just ended its contract, it can also be swapped between the tablet and the 4GX hotspot.

A search of evilbay I found a new battery for under $20 and a new back for $12 for the S8, had a look at on video how to replace the battery it looked pretty simple, so I ordered the battery and back, they arrived in little over a week, bonus there was a break down tool kit included with the back. Again refering to the online video following it step by step "bingo" we have a serviceable back up mobile phone.

It pays to visit Telstra online to see what deals are about before you go into a Telasta shop.

Interesting comment that heat when charging may be an issue.  I have been using an elcheapo cordless charger & it makes my iPhoneX hot.   I will investigate.

Thanks for the heads up.

I recently had a laptop where the battery swelled up so much it bent the key board. First place I took it to didn't want to know me. Then I found a HP tech who removed the battery for me on the condition I disposed of the battery. He didn't want a bar of it. Cause? Using a cheap inverter to charge the laptop.
