What was hilarious yesterday was "their abc's" coverage of the protest in Melbourne. It started with some dramatics from the news reader who announced they were crossing live to the "Invasion Day " protest. Next thing, some hysterical reporter, hands flaying, grimly informed us of the importance of this protest. Half way through her sanctimonious spiel she was interrupted by one of the protesters telling her to shut up as they were in the middle of a minutes silence to remember all the things wrong with Australia. This poor fool of a girl, in the middle of giving her lefty views was hoisted on her own petard.

I am going to find Ita Buttrose contact details today and let fly. Just reported that another "their abc presenter" has compared Margaret Court comments to comments about The Holocaust .

I wouldn't waste my time Craig. I have sent them emails in the past. You receive an email back stating they will investigate and reply within one month and that is the last you hear from those miscreants. Better to email your local member or the minister. They contact them and get a reply pretty quickly.

The ABC is in a world of their own PC correctness. Until the feds pull some money from them nothing will change. I was one of those who thought Ita would 'fix' the problem. But it seems only money will talk at the ABC.

The sad thing is that the ABC does some great stories. I love Landline on TV. If only they would get off the PC stuff and back to what most Australians want. Bring back Blue Hills. Biggles and Hawker Hurricane. Heck let's really dream and ask for Dad and Dave back at 6.15pm sharp everyday. Oh dear I'm showing my age!!

Midday Victoria ABC radio news today - lead headline:

"A survey reveals pregnant women are more stressed as a result of the corona virus"

I have no doubt they are, so is everyone I imagine but does this small survey by a WA university deserve the lead headline on the major Australian national and international broadcaster?

Sure, it would be a good article for Radio National's "Life Matters" and similar programme but the lead headline on major news!? Get real.

Once again; a social agenda operation by people with editorial control in the ABC.

And to think: I once credited this organisation with integrity....

I am going to waste a "Pensioner Stamp" or two or three. The contact and complaint process via website appears to be as you say DMax. Our communications minister is like the last one, a total waste of space and oxygen, so look out Scomo as well.

It's a total free for all at Their ABC Mike. Everyone gets a turn. I was driving along listening to the cricket which I usually enjoy. The ABC have always had great commentators like Jim Maxwell and Andrew Moore as well as great co commentators who are usually former test players from here or abroad. They have great analysis and good yarns. They now are more inclusive and have an English lady who bellows every time something happens. OK I can accept that. Last test we had a former female test player who decided to tell us all about her and her wife having a baby. Alan McGilvray would have turned in his grave.

Thanks to Hewie54 for the suggestion of the Blaze Aid instigator.

I realised too late that I had potentially Highjacked the thread. Any way as usual the commonsense of the Forum in general kept the good intention going.

Grace Tame is a gutsy young lady and truly deserving of the honour. Sadly, many of the above comments show a complete lack of understanding and tolerance for people who have views which differ from theirs. You mob need to have a close look at yourselves and some of the tripe that you write in this forum.

WestAussie I believe the point many of the above is the exact opposite of what you are saying. They are pointing out that someone couldn't tolerate the fact that someone else had a different point of view. I believe 100% of those here believe everyone is entitled to an opinion and they are against someone berating those who have an opinion that differs from theirs. You are actually doing the same. Berating those who have a different opinion to yourself. Double standards?

West Aussie, the whole basis of my criticism of the ABC and their staff is that they hold a view on many subjects and just broadcast that view alone. They cannot bear to have others disagree with their views and therefore won't tolerate any dissention. Haver a look at any of their panel shows. They all have the usual suspects commentating and all with the same spiel. They do not report news without giving it their biased spin, usually delivered through some hand waving, shrieking lefty.

I stood in front of the mirror for ten minutes and decided I was perfectly happy with what I saw.

Thanks for the replies. It is interesting to see the far right mob take the bait. Unfortunately we are going down the track of the USA with the extreme right wing trying to dominate the agenda and promote their own distorted nationalistic and racist view of the world.

WestAussie you certainly are jumping to conclussions based on your perceptions of those you don't agree with. Besides I seem to recall the 'quiet Australians' gave their view of the far left at the last election.

West Aussie - it's been raining since 4am (50mm) and I'm bored so...
a few points:

1 - Are you sure this is the best forum for you? Your first two posts
are needlessly confrontational and boarding on abusive rather than
contributing to the nomad knowledge base, something most of us do
regularly. Perhaps Twitter would be a better platform for you? There
you'll never have to address an argument but are readily permitted to
abuse in only 140 characters, sounds right up your street.

2 - If Dmaxer, bgt and myself are "Far Right Extremists" then how
would you categorise, say, Pol Pot or General Pinochet? "Far, far,
far Right" perhaps? Pretty soon you're going to run out of fars.

3 - For your information over the past 15 years, at various times, I
have voted: Labor, Liberal, National, Pauline Hanson, Independent,
Animal Justice and others I have forgotten - I vote according to the
policies of the parties and how I think they will benefit the
country, it's a practice I commend to you - hint: it beats ideology.

4 - Try to understand that others will hold opinions which differ
from yours, this does not ipso facto make them wrong - indeed let me
quote Cromwell:

----

"I beseech you in the bowels of Christ think it possible you may be
mistaken"

Oliver Cromwell 1650

----

5 - Democracies are based upon tolerance and (this may surprise you)
but if today you chose to ban my views because you are in power
please keep in mind that tomorrow, if I am in power, then I may ban
yours.

6 - Be nice to people and you'll find that generally they'll be nice
to you.

Thanks everyone, however I think I will close this now. Just a quick reminder to please keep posts focused on the topic rather than on the person who posted. Please also note that we do not allow political discussions on this forum.
Thanks for your understanding.
