When I went all-electric in my van, this bit of gear was among the stuff I discarded.Friend today spotted it in my shed,so I gave it to him,but he nowwould like to know the purpose of the first 'controller' from the gas bottle.Any ideas? Cheers

The first regulator stage is meant for higher pressures and provides a lower, more uniform pressure to the second stage. Retired gas fitter BIL told me to type it's called a two stage regulator but ireally two slightly different regulators. When I asked why I've never seen one on his gas gadgets the reply was "technically better but dearer and two diaphragm assemblies to gum up".

Thanks for that,Doug.Much appreciated! My friend will now be able to sleep better,as he hates not knowing 'stuff'.Cheers
BIL is a nice guy and always willing to help me but your pics resulted in the longest discussion on plumbing matters in the 35+ years we've known each other. I think he misses teaching apprentices.
