Is It Shopping Heaven or Something Lost ?

Just in time for xmas another new shopping complex is in the process of opening up across the road from Australian Motorhomes in Bennets Green (Lake Macquarie) which will have 3 of my favourite shops. Bunnings, Anaconda, RTM as well as my wifes go to Spotlight. Probably save us a bit of fuel not having to drive around the different suburbs to get what we want but it came at the cost of completely clearing many hectares of native bushland where we had many adventures growing up. I dont know how these businesses keep finding enough customers to be profitable as they have already other outlets nearby especially the big green shed who has another 2 within a 5km radius. Its ironic that residents of Lake Mac need council permission to remove a single native tree from their backyard yet the big developers seem to get permission to clear hundreds of acres of natural bushland in order to duplicate what already exists. I'm enough of a realist to know that conserving pockets of bushland in the suburbs takes a backseat when it comes to $ and job creation but its still sad to see the urban sprawl consuming what we were once so familar with.

Morning BB,

Live with it or move. WE are in the same situation where we are down the road a bit. We are surounded buy Chineese, Korian, Indian, .......... Plus.

Two streets away they knocked down three ENTIRE Streets to build total new blocks of medium density units, plus a new five story carpark. The next suburb is the same.

The folks there got $$$$$$$ for just pi.....s OFF.

WE have been on our land for 35 years and built all the inferstructure on it ,the way we wanted it.

We don't want to move. We are happy just the way we are.

The offers we get to Pi.....s off are mind bogling. Money does not replace what we have.

To start over again at our age and rebuild.no We just want to be left alone.

Old & Grey

True old and grey moving is not something that we really want to do at this stage of our lives either so I guess we will just have to sit back and watch as the bushland around us continues to disappear and new areas open up. No doubt all the generations that came before us probably thought the same thing. I can't help thinkng back to the days when were spending our time in the bush building forts etc., playing test match cricket in the street or walking 3km through the bush to Redhead Beach every day in the school holidays that the pace of change just seemed to be a whole lot slower.
