Road from Port Hedland to Tom Price road condition

Does anyone know if the inland road to Tom Price from Port Hedland i.e turning left into highway 95 after Boodarie (rather than turning left much further down the coastal road at Nunuttarra) is a sealed road?

I plan to venture up to Broome and then Tom Price in June/July next year and am contemplating the best route to get to Tom Price once I leave Port Hedland.

I have offroad suspension on my caravan but prefer to avoid the long gravel roads if possible.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards

David

Two years ago we came down the Great Northern Rd from Port Hedland to Karijini. The road is perfectly ok, 4000 mining vehicles movements a day according to a mining worker we spoke to & 70% are road trains.

We drove out via Roebourne Wittenoom Rd. We didn't use the private road Tom Price Railway Rd, which you have to get a permit. We were advised that Roebourne Wittenoom Rd was too rough, but it was a reasonably good dirt road. There were some sharp rock ridges in the road which catch you by surprise so stick to 80 kph, & let your tyres down accordingly! One spot the GPS wondered off a fair bit but it returns to the road after some kilometres.

At the intersection in Millstream Chichester NP, turn right & head up to Roebourne.

The landscape is brilliant & visit Python Pool, there is bush camping a few km north just outside the NP.

If it is a choice between these 2 roads go via Millstream Chichester NP, well worth in it, the park & road was pretty quiet.

Port Hedland south is the Great Northern Highway - a good sealed road. Turn off that to go west to Tom Price - again a decent sealed road.
If you plan to visit Karijini National Park on the way to Tom Price, you will have a small amount of unsealed road to go to the Dales Gorge area. More unsealed to visit other points in the Park - but you can base yourself at Dales Gorge and day trip to those.
