Who remembers the Womens Weekly Birthday Cake book?

Here is a funny version of the Duck Cake from that book but it brought back good memories of other recipes in there...

 1.  Which one didn't you do- the duck? LOL

2. How did yours look?  Chernobyled, like that guy's "duck", or good?

My mum used to make "Dolly Vardon" cakes every birthday.  You make a cake in a pudding basin shape, you cut a hole, stick a barbie in the hole and then decorate the cake and the barbie like a fancy ballgown.  Pretty easy to make, and we liked them.
