I have searched the forum for info on reversing Cameras the latest I can see is in 2015. We understand that time and technology have improved. I have been told that the metal on the van impede the wireless signal. I had an auto electrician suggest that the wireless transmitter can be mounted forward of the van near the drawbar thereby reducing the metal and the distance. So my question is. Has anyone had success with wireless reversing cameras if so how were they mounted and what brand did you use.

Our original reverse camera was wireless. I mounted the transmitter on the inside of the boot lid which is plastic on coromal vans. It worked very well as far as reception goes. However as we also used it as a sudo rearview camera interference to the signal was common in towns and from electric fences and power lines. Used just for reversing it was OK.
Hey Guys, say your original camera have you now replaced it and if so did you stay wireless or go hard wired. Also May I ask the brand of camera. They all look the same on the outside the prices vary but that does not necessarily mean better quality. Thanks
Hi ,i`ve had as twin reverse /rear view wireless system on my caravan for the last 2 yrs .I find it bloody good .We are in NZ and the signal only looses for a brief second now and again ,and we have a lot of hills /valleys etc .Usually close to a town where you get any interferance . One camera points down to aid reversing the other points a bit below horizontal straight back .( mounted just below the top of the caravan ) shows at least half a km. back and wider than both verges either side .
Screen powered by sig. socket in ute . This can be split screen or one camera only.
Make is VEISE ELECTRONICS . Monitor is model no SP-723H2 7inch 2.4ghz ..Rear camera`s are Model no. DF.8275H-SFS. 12V-24V. 120deg view angle .All up system was approx $750 NZ .Good quality camera`s are the key !

I'm not certain what happens with the Search function of the Forum, I found a post of Dec 2017 - mainly looking at the legality of the monitor in front of the driver. I'm certain the subject has been raised since then, but the only other way is to go though pages of entries both here & the Techies Corner!
It seems wireless can be susceptible to outside interference but "wire/cable" systems run into problems too e.g.
What is the maximum length of wire supplied?
Can you join extra wire/cable in via connectors you may not be able to use, buy? Generally you need a magnifying glass to see the inner wire. That's why I have an el-cheapo Gater brand camera in my shed & why it didn't get installed in my Nissan Patrol!!!

I have had a Kings Reversing installed on my 2014 Ranger it work well. Kings tell me I can instal a second camera onto the monitor not sure how it works at this point. Still researching thanks for the input
Keith I changed to a hard wired camera system with a twin camera setup. One is 45 degree for use as a rear vision camera, the other is 120 degree for reversing and parking. The main reason for the change was that at the time there were no narrow angle wireless cameras. There probably still not. They are wired such that the narrow angle camera is active all the time but switches to the wide angle when reverse gear is engaged. The camera set came from Digioptions the 7 in monitor from Elintz, both good companies to deal with.

Thanks Allan I will look into the brand , so to be clear it is a single camera that changes its field of view. Very interesting I have never heard of that. Were they expensive. Thanks Keith
On the question of legality of the monitor being on when driving. Ours is a direct replacement of the oem rear view mirror and can function as a mirror if not on. But it is legal to have it on continuously as it is classed as a driver aid under the legislation.

Sorry Keith. i seem to have misled you. The unit consists of two cameras mounted side by side and independently adjustable. They are made by Masten. Digi-options price seems to have risen steeply since I bought mine.
