camec TV loses DTV channels when placed in standby

Hi,

My first post  so please  be kind smile

I have  a  Camec TV  running  on  12v. Recently I  had  an  issue on  getting good reception. The Problem seemed  to be  around  the quality  of the coax which I  replaced, 2 specific LED lights  that disrupted reception when switched  on and generally  being in  a  poor  reception area.

I'm now  in  a good reception area  and the TV tunes in okay. Unfortunately when  I  place  the TV in standby  mode  and  then switch  it on again it loses  all the DTV  channels. Strangely  the  radio channels are   still there.

I had this issue with  a  previous  camec  TV and  they  were  very  good and sent me  a  replacement set. Unfortunately this is now happening  to my  new  TV.

Aerial is  a  Winegard Sensar with the power booster  switch

The TV is a camec 24" LED  TV

Caravan is  Coromal Element 552

I'm running the  TV on 12v  but  I  do have 240v power attached.

I can  retune every time  I  switch on the TV but  it  is  very  frustrating

 Thanks  in  advance, Steve

Hi Steve; With a television not remembering the channels that are stored into your television sounds like the set is faulty and i would contact the manufacturer again and see if they are willing to point you in the right direction for repair or they may offer you another replacement. This type of thing used to happen with some of the early color televisions when the memory battery would fail ( rechargeable ). But with the new sets everything ( including the channels stored ) is stored in a "flash memory".

Sometimes it is easier to replace the set with a different model ( up grade ) or a different make.

On a side note, are you storing the channels in the correct manor, some sets can be a real pain to programme.

G'day Steve,
Not going to bore it up you - just saying "Welcome!"
There is a stack of info in the sections of the forum that have all sorts of subjects. Some might brighten up a dull day.
Become familiar with the Search button, the Advanced Search. Often it's better to do your own research initially rather than "re-inventing the wheel."

You case here is similar to one I had about three years ago (other members saved me some dollars with an issue with Dometic). As this is a replacement set, I wouldn't waste any time in contacting Camec.
Ask them if they'd like you to visit one of their service agents/dealers close to you if possible.

Valiant has suggested looking at other brands - fine (& look for specials from crowds such as Road Tech Marine, etc). However, I assume the current tv is covered by a warranty - keep on their backs until you get satisfaction, frustrating, I know but if they are continuing to import stuff that doesn't meet expectations, they NEED TO KNOW & DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Thanks for your response.

I have to say when I phoned  Camec  last time with the  same fault  on  my previous TV, they immediately  arranged  a  replacement. In  fact  they gave me  a  bigger TV as  the one I  had  was  no longer  available.

Thanks for the advice,

I did fiddle around and found that  by manually tuning rather than using the auto tune did  retain the channels.

This works for  me.

Taa

Sounds fiddly Steve, but if you're happy then go for it.
Just hope you're not changing towns every night
