Its an old caravan park (Lighthouse caravan park), turned into an 'eco resort', which means way more expensive and a lot less van sites and a lot more expensive eco tents and cabins. He also managed to somehow get the council to pay for the road which currently goes between the caravan park and the beach to be moved to the other side of his resort which must be costing the council a fortune. Maybe it will be nice, but I don't think grey nomads will be his target audience.
To think in the mid 60's I worked on the VLF site for 2 years and all that beach was accessible at any time, we caught some nice fish along there and down to Yardie Creek, they were good days.
Supply and demand. He/they can charge a $1000.00 a night if they like. It's their balance sheet.
What we don't have, to my knowledge, are the RV resorts like in the USA. Fancy, expensive RV parks where you buy a lot. Then it's your to trade as you like. All the whizz bang facilities where they can limit who comes and goes. Limit the type of RV you have, etc etc. (I'm ignoring the Casino example).
Maybe that is their long term plan. Has to happen sometime here in Australia.
