Hi all, I recently purchased a Westport 1998 and Im having trouble with the internal lights when on mains power. All other stuff is working, aircon, tv, fridge.
I took out the 2 batteries to have them tested and when I put them back in the lights didnt work.
Im not sure how the 12v system works but I assumed when plugged in to 240v that would override.
Is there a simple test I can do on the centurion3000. I think that is what controls the lights??

Firstly welcome to this forum, I trust you will find it as good as I & most others have.
Don't be afraid to look through other parts of the forum, to use the Search, Advanced Search tabs.
For us to be able to help, can you tell us what type the lights are? Did they work on battery before you removed the batteries? In older vans, the vans had a 240v globe & a 12v globe - I hope yours is a little more modern than that and I would hope that when you refitted the batteries that you didn't reverse the connections (normally the poles are different sizes). As blaze said reversing the wires to the lights will prevent LEDs from working (they are a diode).
Did the van come with any handbooks? Are you familiar with a basic multimeter with DCV, ACV & 10A ranges?
I'm not familiar with the Centurion3000 - there should be something on the internet or someone else may know about it.

I used to have a 2001 Westport with a centurion, do not remember what number but probably the same.All lights were 12 volt. Open the front cover and all fuses are there. have you checked them ?
As a separate issue, advice I was given by a well known auto elect/solar company was to disconnect the centurion as it will destroy the battery's. Just use it as a fuse holder. Plug in a separate battery charger.
Thanks for reply guys. I put the batteries back in the same way. I have checked all the fuses on front of centurion3000, they are all good. There is one fuse inside centurion and that is ok. I am semi ok with multi meter. I can get the 12v off my car battery. I cant get any reading out of the centurion. I think Ill just pay a caravan auto elec to come to me check it out. He can also run me through the entire set up. Anyone have a contact for exp caravan auto electric in bayside melb area? Thanks.

The reference that I mentioned above on this forum in 2012 was June 12th.
Another forum stated this unit was a power supply with a limited trickle charge rate of about 5A at about 12.7v - not sufficient to charge modern day batteries to around 14.3v - meaning damage will occur to the batteries, as Barry mentioned above.
