Hi Mike We came over the border through the m1 on Wednesday and most parks are only taking 50% of sites and showgrounds filling up early up the coast there are also heaps of backpackers in the highway rest areas. We decided to go inland from Caboulture which was much easier to get a good spot as we don't really like overpriced parks if you are going to NT I would head north west NSW and go through the border west of the ranges into qld then up the middle and get on the Savannah way and go into NT that way also lots of business have been effected by loss of trade in qld and there are many not open as yet . Cheers

We are waiting on border clearance to WA, before heading that way. Could be very soon, or else we are staying in QLD if WA doesn't want us.

A timely reminder if crossing into the NT from Qld, 3 days prior to crossing you need to go online to approval, likewise NT to SA.

We have friends in the NT awaiting the border into WA to open, the advice they have received is no non essential visitors until Sept, or perhaps later at the onset of the wet season.

I have been online getting info, if we decide to go to SA later in the year, best advice I have found with the least amout of imposition is Qld to NT to SA, it adds an extra 1000+ km rather than the most direct route Qld via Cunnamulla to Cobar to Broken Hill then via the Barrier Highway to Adelaide.

Normally we would go via Sydney and Swan Hill in Vic to visit or Kids and grand kids, but if you enter Vic or any NSW hot spots, most likely entry into SA would be a no go.

Darjak, I have done more that my share of dirt track running in the past, our van's a blacktop roads only, no point in bashing down a dirt roads, I will drive away from the most direct route to avoid a dirt one. The last dirt road we ran on was the VRD in CQ because the bloody GPS directed me that way, me dirt roads we don't use the GPS anymore either.

IMO,
We in Queensland over a period of time have "Taken The Micky" out of our friends in Victoria "The Place To Be"? but at the moment it's sad to say that it appears that Covid has / is turning State against State, people against people, towns against towns..........Not Australian is it !!

Just saying

I dont think that this is turning state against state in the majority.

We have friends in Vic that can not travel across borders. This is for the welfare and health of the people, it is not because one state is against another state

My advice to the OP would be to stay where you are and wait this out rather than risk travelling from an area very close to known hotspots. There is a full ban from Qld on the Greater Sydney but I only read the other day that there were cases in Port Stephens.

This virus can not be spread if people dont travel...this is so simple.

Totally agree ( This virus cant be spread if people dont travel)
But to some you might as well talk to a brick wall.
Just like the the two girls from QLD reckon they should spend a
mandatory 6mths jail time plus fine.
At least everyone knows what they look like thanks to photos.

Bentaxlebabe,
Exactly what we are doing, our trip around the block was postponed back in April, at least we have the weather on our side up here, as for state against state, maybe iv'e missed read comments about Victorians or Victoria wanting to come to Qld, but as you say it's pretty simple but clearly not for some though !
