A class (including all the bus conversions) start at three or four thousand for a basic "tin tent" all the way up to a million dollars (or more) so your question covers a huge area.
Betty and I prefer a nice big living space to rattle around in simply because we are essentially full-time on the road and have been for 13 years. Tow a Suzuki behind as we did for several years and you have everything you need. Full size bathroom and large beds that you don't need a ladder for, plus room for all the junk you feel you must carry.
Disadvantages - yes a couple, but if you book the fuel up on the credit card you only have to cope with one heart attack a month.
Our BIGRIG, which is now 6p on blocks acting as a granny flat for when we are home (rarely) uses 43 litres per hundred km and we drove that twice around Australia. Eventually decided to cut out the middleman and employed my own fuel tender
Budget has to be the first concern but for me the best in Aus is the "Tiffin Brand" Locally produced and top class fit out for the money. Around $350,000.00.

Given the poor quality control on new units and the very sparse or non-existant dealer netwoork to provide warranty work, I would never buy brand new. Apart from the massive hit due to depreciation in the first couple of years, much smarter to let some other sucker go through the agony of seeing their expensive investment sit in the workshop for weeks or even months.
If you need the smell of new fake leather and volatile organic compounds, Autozone have spray cans that provide the same smells
