Selfish morons.

Have just read on the Channel 7 news that there are people in Melbourne trying to change the address on their driving licences in order to travel outside their area whilst in lockdown. I really shouldn't be surprised at this as we seem to have more than our share of selfish bastards who have no thought for others. If caught they should get the book thrown at them, car impounded and a huge fine imposed. This sort of behaviour will only prolong the problem but can these idiots see that? Nope. Just selfish, selfish, selfish.

Melburnians in the northern suburbs will now know what it is like for Palestinians, needing good reason to leave their areas, and run the gauntlet of security around the country checking your ID.

There was a young bloke on the news I think Monday morning for memory, that was asked what he was going to do etc and his smart 'A' comments were a disgrace. He was even asked how he would feel if he gave the virus to his grandmother and his reply is not even worth saying. He needs stringing up from the nearest tree. Disgraceful moron.

Me, this virus is real, so I am staying put where I am in Nth East VIC and continue to isolate as much as possible but do have family in the southern suburbs of Melbourne. I haven't seen them since Xmas.

The number of caravans heading north on the Hume Highway is out of control.

Do the right thing Melbourne. If you don't and should be at home "Book 'em Danno" OH! Impound their mobile homes as well.

Mmm! Did I say that ? YEP.

No, no, no. The suicide bombers regularly leave without consulting anyone.

 Disagree Dougwe.

It seens some are making sweeping statements with unsupported facts, have you considered that those heading north on the Hume dont come from the hot sopt areas and have been tested, given the all clear deciding to leave the metro area for somewhere away from the hotspots.

If you actually listen to the advice then Victorians who live outside the metro area can travel, they can even enter Queensland if in the preceeding 3 weeks hadnt visited or lived in those areas.

Now consider some South and Western Australians when traverling north will travel through segments of Vic to get to NSW, unless they choose the Silver City Hwy to Broken Hill, and then there maybe some travelling to the Snow field in NSW and Vic, these travellers will not encounter any of the hot spots.

its easy to Tar and Feather people and call the Selifish Morons I'd suggest that media overeaction bloats the stories byline a bit

Gundog, no one's interested in the facts, media especially. Gets in the way of emotional BS. This is yet another thread that will result in more dissention through provocation. There are definitely morons out there and they aren't all Victorian. Learnt a lot more facts today, pointless sharing it though.

A wonderful thing, hope it gets invoked, but it will be a miracle if it happens. Current State Govt is way to shy about law and order here (being polite).

It would be better that the idiots contracted, or rather, the directors of these companies providing quarantine security services be hung drawn & quartered. This is where the real problems exist.

This practice, called quarantine, was derived from the Italian words quaranta giorni which means forty days

We were asked this afternoon when we're coming down to Warrnambool. Pat said "When it's warmer & when if we come, are allowed home again without dramas."

There are always idiots in any drama - look at the looters after flooding, cyclones & fires. And in Toowoomba (where we are at the moment) the idiots have stripped the supermarket shelves of toilet paper!! All because of the situations in Melbourne!!

Yes Southern Comfort, some current Labor govts are weak on law & order - take Qld for example. Take the court case of the 14 year old who killed four of his friends a few weeks ago in Townsville (stolen car - someone's pride & joy), the useless minister tried to stop the court from letting journalists report what went on just this week! This kid was already on bail for car stealing, break & enter! And we the public have to be wary when using the roads at ANY time of the day.

If you nomads value your possessions when you visit Qld's regional cities, please lock your car - particularly if it is an automatic, van & hide the keys!

It seems that the vast majority of positive cases being reported each day in NSW are coming from overseas travellers returning to Australia. Apparently this latest outbreak in Melbourne has also been blamed on the management of returning residents who were quarantined in a hotel. Regardless of who was responsible I believe that the heavy lifting should be shared by all the states with Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin taking more of the incoming flights and managing the compulsory quarantine period in their hotels.

The premier of NSW has just announced that an $11,000 fine will be imposed on those who intentionally breach travel restrictions, I know that fines wont stop the few morons (of any state or country) who believe that they are entitled to ignore the rules. Maybe more serious charges need to be laid against those who spread the virus by intentionally breaching rules especially if it results in fatalities.

Cheers

Indeed. Melbourne and Sydney have been harbouring the bulk of returning residents before release to their homes locally or interstate. Absolutely correct that the handling of quarantining has been a total c*ck up in Melbourne and is one of the major causes of the outbreak, it's been our version of the Ruby Princess. The problem is exacerbated by the 'don't care' brigade in the NW suburbs. We are told a 1,000 strong police task force has now been deployed to those suburbs in an effort to contain the offenders hell bent on ignoring the new lockdown, but it's like trying to plug a leaky pipe with many hundreds of holes. Our premier, who's blunders go from from bad to worse, has now decided to offer a $1500 inducement to anyone refusing a test - seriously!! Many of us aren't too surprised about the entire mess when the detail is examined...

Hi Southern Comfort Normally I vote Liberal in Victoria but seeing as you mention politics I believe Labors Daniel Andrews has done an exceptional job with this virus. The Opposition leader Michael somebody is hopeless with negative comments and no suggestions on how to make alternatives. Decision making and breaches of rules should not be blamed always in the a premier.

It's quite simple to ascertain whether a person has arrived from Victoria by checking their mobile phone and their credit/debit card records online.

Good Luck.

 Really!!

Problem with all politicians is when things are going well and the virus is under control we can't get them off the TV telling us how good they are. But when, like Victoria, it all goes pear shaped they are nowhere to be found and a good chance the CMO will get thrown under the bus.

They love having an each way bet!smile

To those who think Daniel Andrews has not done enough during this pandemic tell me, would you like to have his job??????

I'd prefer to have Andrews there than the opposition leader who just spouts personal attacks on a man who is doing his best under very trying circumstances. ( and no, before you even think it, I am a swinging voter)

Andrews is not perfect and has not always got it right but he is doing the best that he can, and deserves support from us all to get the job done. Political affiliations should be put to oneside as this problem needs us all to make an effort. The quicker we all pull together the quicker the chances are that we can defeat this monster.

No politics will make it better - Agree we should give full support to them to do their job.

My problem is the statement "but he is doing the best that he can". I think this is the wrong way to judge, but it is too prevalent in most of our opinions - We need leaders that are competent and have ability.

I know nothing of Mr Andrews, he seems quite personable. Is he good at his job? Does he act on advices from experts? Who is he putting first, himself? The Party? The People?

Are his "Team" pulling their respective weights or slacking off? This, is the major question.

Are the GN's of this forum fairly adjudicating performance standards or are they like the silver ball on a pinball machine bouncing around making a noise due to entrenched political views and "Poor Buggar Me" attitudes.

End of rant.

Who is to say that some, um...determined individuals could, like suicide bombers, deliberately get themselves infected with Covid then

set out to spread their infection far and wide to further their idealology.

This could explain the sudden resurgence of infections.

Doing the best one can isn't always good enough.

Victoria could now drag us all back into lockdown!

 Neil/Lynne

We are not really interested in explanations at the moment, we need solutions.

Explaining it will not achieve that.
