Perth to Broome

So. In the next few months (before Christmas at any rate) I am going North. First stop Broome. After that? Who knows? I will not be taking the van or animals initially. Just me, the car and my pillow and sleeping bag (although I prefer real beds). Suggestions on overnight stops? I will have to get the animals (dogs and a cat) at some point. But by then I will have done the run and have some idea of time etc.

Hi 2 paws up

If you are free camping, then there are plenty of free camp/rest areas by the roadside, between Perth and Broome
And all the way up to the NT border, with drop toilets, but no water, they are maintained by the WA Main Roads Department

To the best of my knowledge, there are no free camps, in/near Broome

I have come across travellers, who had told me that they had been fined, for free camping within and/or close by, the Broome town site

Careful with the animal, as there are plenty of 1080 baits, up that way

If you get Wikicamps, less than $10 for life time download, it shows where all the free/donation/low cost camp sites/caravan parks are

Hope that this info is useful to you

Thanks guys. I have WikiCamps, just wanted to see if there were any specific areas people recommend. 1080 is everywhere in the Goldfields, so we are super-aware.

No plans to free camp in Broome, I am going to be accommodated when I get there. And then I will find pet-friendly accommodation (there or wherever I end up).

Thanks for the tips :)

I did a delivery trip Perth to Broome last week with my new (to me) Motorhome, travelling solo. My Fiat Ducato sat quite happily on the cruise control at 110kph.

I was using WikiCamps for free camping, but didn't go with any plans other than to stop BEFORE getting too tired. I did it comfortably in 3 days, with free camps about 40km north of Meekatharra and the same north of Port Hedland. Only travelling in daylight of course :)

No problems whatsoever.

Thanks gang. I am looking to shift for work. Figured I could do it in 3 days in the car, but wanted to hear from others who have done it.

Muster is more fun when they let you drive one of the buggies (or better yet a 4 wheeler) and join in biggrin I've worked musters. They are hot, dusty, dirty fun!

Pardoo Station - rings bells... Thank you :)
