5kw is double that needed for a van.
Ensure proper separation of exhaust gasses or it will kill you.
Price is much higher than traditional diesel heaters and the installation wold not be a lot easier.
Cheers,
Peter
Hi we bought a Mr Buddy heater as being in QLD I don't want to install a diesel heater. I can say is it is bloody awesome 10 minutes is enough to warm the caravan Also great because my wife can use it outside.
I used one of these in the house for a few years, very economical and pump out the heat. Its retired now as we have reverse cycling AC in the house. We used the Buddy in the camper trailer many times, we were warmer than the others camping and no condensation.
You will, of course, still need to vent the exhaust and, ideally, use outside air for the inlet so they'll be some work involved in doing that. If you look at the inside of these boxes they are just a standard diesel heater in a box.
Fitting a standard diesel heater is not difficult but does involve some crawling around, and iirc and with respect you are not as young as once you were, but if you have a friend who could do the lying under the van stuff it's a pretty basic job. Hint: buy a pack of the Bunnings "Ceiling LED light holesaws" for $14.
Maybe a local paid handyman could help?
In any event you *will* bless the day you fitted one - I do, regularly :)
PS. Peter's comment about 5kW being too big is correct but as it's hard to buy a Chinese 2kW unit (even if it's marked 2kW) 5kW is the go. At minimum setting the 5kW unit is pretty good and if it's too hot then simply crack a window at either end of the van - works well for me.
