Did any one travel the Oodnadatta track, via the route above, just before lockdown?
We are planning, 3 x Vans, the trip in 2 weeks and was wondering what the track conditions are or were just before lockdown.
Will contact the Pink Roadhouse if there is no info here
Besides the obvious info available are thee any other special places to see along the way, we have travelled it before just wondering if there is anything new
The Oodnadatta Track south of William Creek in mid 2019.
This is the busiest we have seen it for a long time (people thought they would be able to see water in Lake Eyre) and its condition was worse than usual.
You also need to go out to the Painted Desert west of Oodnadatta. Stay at Arkaringa Station for the night.
We traveled down last year. The top 120km are rough, we let the tyres down to 24psi before we started. The road is then a lot better. There was one small section of bull dust.
Water available at Oodnadatta $4 for 20L if you need it. Strangway Springs is worth walking around & over the hill you will see a couple of springs still running. Look for the reeds.
Also did Lake Eyre North, that's a rough track & there was water in the lake.
(Prior we did Great Central Road & Lambert's Centre)
