Dometic Skylights blowing open.

Dometic skylight hatches can in windy conditions unhook the mechanism and blow open, and break. We found a simple fix to lock the opening lever in place using Velcro strips sewn together, held to the structure with a plastic tie. Simple and works. I can post more info if interested.

Iana, thank you.

When I been resting during the day I have heard our roof vents rattle in the breeze, Velcro would do the trick to stop that.

Added to the C19 job to be done list.

You will need a sewing machine, sew two pieces of Velcro strips about 180mm long together (getting them the right way around). Sew another line of stitching about 4mm apart, this is where the plastic tie slides in. Bend a plastic tie into a half moon and enter it into I think its the fifth hole in the vent, and maneuver it so it comes out the next hole, thread it through the Velcro passage, tighten and trim, all finished.
If the wind unlocks the vent, then blows it open, the vent can be broken at the hinges, we always use this system when the vents are open.
