But I'm a tinkerer and would like to have a go myself (definitely wont be as pretty :)
1st : middle & back seats & rails removed.
2nd : something comfortable to sit/lay on in van while parked at beach (and/or overnight)
3rd : new bike to fit in van to go riding those bike paths along the beach (theme happening here :)
4th : stop trapping myself at home and get out more (preferably riding)

5th : they say you never stop tinkering with your layout (always improving sounds fun)

finally got the rail & sliders out

3 bolts holding the whole rail & sliders

even if you wanted to leave the rails in, you still have to remove the whole assembly as the caps are bolted in and have to be removed to get the sliders out.

removing rear interior trim

undoing seat belts

Remove light grey moulding both sides

remove screws holding (easy visable) then pop with trim tool (only need one)

door step trim needs to be popped in corner to pull out side trim

remove bolts holding seat belts in

Done :)

maybe a thought to fill the cavities with insulation bats while you have the trim off, I did with my coaster.

Stick acoustic insulation in while at it. It also makes a hugh difference thermally. I've pulled all the panels of twice to add more, basically to see how far I could push the noise reduction. It was a lot of work but well worth the effort & the cost was not too bad. The engine bay insulation was expensive, but again I was trying to see how far I could go.

I've heard arguments for & against insulation. also have the extra windows (glass, heat/cold) to possably deal with
As i dont have to treat this as a "must be completed by..."
I'm not going to insulate straight away.
Gonna try a few things first :)

I ORG. wanted an Iload (to start blank) but they where ALWAYS more expensive :(
But as an Imax is an Iload glamed up (and was cheaper) what the hell :)

I havent decided if I'll keep the moulding on or off
But I wanted to
a: get the seats out. DONE
b: get the moulding off, DONE. so I can see where the metal bits are (for drilling or adding things and a record) as I couldnt find jack of this stuff online.
c: might had some more sound deading while moulding off (never hurts :)
d: havent decided about the carpet yet (with the seat rails gone & also the rear underneath airconditioner.

Also a side note 2seater vs 3 seater
great having that gap there at times for getting through, but I AM missing having that middle seat that I usually rest my arm on.
I'm starting to think I might want something portable/flexable there (some stick an esky, maybe a removable console)

If it sounds like I'm ranting :) it's more so, notes to myself (and sharing :)

I tinted my windows, that helped in keeping it cooler, heavy curtains help keep the warm in

Yer tinting would be a go.
Any idea on cost of a decent(guaranteed? hate how some bubble) job? recommendations?

I did my own but I have had a lot of experence with sign vinyl and some preevious tinting. The secret in no bubbles is to clean and clean again and then buff clean and check to make sure they are clean, you get the clean idea. Put a mist of soapy water overall the window and using a squeegie work from top to bottom. see utube

I bought it online from https://www.carbuilders.com.au I basically used them as another Freelander owner had used them.

The butyl you do not need to put everywhere, just where the panel sounds more tinny, tap with back of finger.

The foam you will use a lot more than you first realise especially if you do metal panels & back of trim panels. Good thing that this is light weight. I would get the van liner & some 6mm for the more difficult areas or where the van liner is to thick.

Get a ream of A4 paper & masking tape to make templates.

Keep large pieces of backing paper for doubling up to peel back difficult locations.

Get a roller!

I HATE radio pins
I got all BUT the card with the radio pin :(

need the last 4 digits of the serial

So time to pull the dash apart.

Showing the easiest spot to lever (apply a bit of presure to the phone holder gets you started

I forgot to take a pic of the top dash.

when you remove the bottom dash, there are 3 screws at the bottom. then the dash comes out easy enough (EXCEPT for the plugs, hard as hell to get out ESP, the clock one)

I got so fixated on getting the radio out, I missed the obvious (as in the past the serial was on the back)

0313 + 1212 = 1525 (here incase I lose my manual which now has the pin on it :)

Now have radio ya :) will check out if it was all worth it or later look at putting a new (touch screen,radio, bt system)

Good to see use of trim panel tools. I didn't need them often but when I did they were brilliant.

On my Land Rover other owners who have upgraded the car's sound system have to go through hoops as it all works through the car's code. So go to a forum for your car to find out any specific information for upgrading.

It's good to pull the dash apart simply to give everything a good clean!

It's a good time to do all this sort of stuff as we are only allowed out for a walk!

Time to think about the cargo area

does anyone know what this access (tried searching)

some have complete floors covering it,I would presume its needed to access something (can you tell I'm not a car person :)

And the main area

thats middle seat ventelation with the aircondition on the right side.

height 30mm clears it if I want to keep it (but cant see the point at the moment)

removing it will have the aircondition blowing straight down (maybe make a funnel to direct out back somehow.

anyone done any drilling into an imax or iload befor? :)

Removal of the vents are simple, just a few obvious bolts holding the plastic vents down

The difficult bit was the rivets holding the base to the vent (had to drill/pull them out)

put the base bit back for now

found all this yellow goop on the right side of the van, still sticky, not rust (havent found any rusting yet).

if you want to keep it simple once you have it stripped out throw a mattress/air mattress what ever is handy a portable stove couple of pots some plastic tarps a bucket or two an when you get a chance go for a drive to see what you need or if you can't go for a drive try camping at home you will soon figure out what you need or don't need

so far you seem to have a handle on it

Yer, going to keep it simple till i'm dead certain how I want to go (pushbike riding in different locations Is a want, and some sort of bed for overnights)

Well I stripped the back sections as you saw.
pulled out the seatbelts (wont be wanting them)
havent decided about the floor yet, but have filled the slots with wood & carpet for now and put the floor bolts back in (keep the holes sealed for now)

got side tracked for a while

had to make room for the imax :)

Then played with 3D

Then IMAX Seat covers

starting to feel as i'm the only one whos done anything to an IMAX interior :) finding any info is harddd :)

I didnt have to take off the seat back plate (but was good to find out how)
2 bottom clips are just pulled out, then push down from the top and pull out :)

But I had to take of the arm rest
pop plastic cover, unbolt & remove

tying the seat covers was easy except the bottom of the seat

remove the front rail cover (just plastic plugs & screws

just pull lightly on the sides and it will let you slide the seat ties down the side instead of over the plastic

Think thats all for now

still deciding what I want to do in the back
But wanted at least the back portion of carpet & old sound deadening gone

Tried the heat method (exhausting, messy, took ages for one small section)
went & got dry ice (from https://www.dryicewa.com.au/ Myaree WA

did the rest of the van in less time that it took to do the smaller section via heat

just pour the ice, cover & wait until the popping & crackling settles down, then spatula the bits out

now to clean it up, might spray rust preventive over it and see how it cleans up
