developer flew 82 tonnes of medical supplies to China

Wonder how others feel about this? makes me pretty mad, China doesn't give a damn about the rest of the world,as long as they get what they want.confuse

"A second Chinese property company based in Sydney flew more than 80 tonnes of medical supplies on a corporate jet to Wuhan in late February, at the time coronavirus was devastating the regional city.

The chartered plane with 90 tons (82 tonnes) of medical supplies, including 100,000 most needed protective coveralls and 900,000 pairs of medical gloves, has successfully departed from Sydney and arrived in Wuhan on 24 Feb"

ISTM that our government(s) didn't anticipate the severity of the virus outbreak, so nobody thought to acquire the supplies for our benefit. I don't think it's fair to blame the Chinese for wanting to stem the tide back home.

ISTR that Italy shipped many tonnes of medical supplies to China before they themselves were hit, and China has since reciprocated by shipping 30 (?) tonnes of medical supplies in return, plus they have sent a large medical team to the disaster zone.

In hindsight what has been done, has been done, and there is (in my opinion), nothing we can do to change the past

I do not blame any people for trying to help their own kind, health-wise, such as Chinese purchasing and shipping medical stuff out

I shall stick my neck out here, and say that history will prove, that our leaders were lacking

I had heard that China had started to lockdown, and that we had some cases of the coronavirus in Australia, while I was at Tamworth

I left Tamworth on/about 28/29 January

We have all seen what has happened in Europe, and America, as they seemed to have put the economy, before health, and now have more cases than China

Two months after China locked down approximately 760 million people

We here in Australia, are still not in full lockdown
We have now got to the stage, were people who have not been overseas, or associated with oversea travellers, are now positive

Link below from where I got the number of 760 million, which is supposed to have come from The New York Times

What plane can carry 82 tonnes? If it helped to slow the virus may it was worth it.

Recently there was a letter in our Townsville Bulletin mentioning all the "benefits" of flogging companies, farms, etc off to China (mainly).

They (PRC) can do what they like, pay minimal/no tax to the Australian Govt, flaunt the rules, etc. Bob Katter might be a maverick in a lot of peoples' eyes but he is dead against selling Australia off for a few dollars.

And for all of the Aussie companies that couldn't wait to have their goods made cheaply in China, what about the situation now? Good old globalisation! Local unemployment, cheap products that don't last like the ones we used to buy, made in Australia.
We often wondered what would happen if there was a war - this is one good example! Stuff all is made here, only a couple of companies here make tooth paste - most is made in Indonesia! Only one small company is making face masks here - in Shepparton.

Boeing 747 can quite easily I believe.

And the Antonov An-225 can carry 247T and if you are ever lucky enough to have one fly close overhead it is like an eclipse of the sun.
