NSW Caravan Park Closures

I just received this from 'Reflections'.

AN UPDATE FOR OUR COMMUNITY

The NSW Minister for Health and Medical Research, The Hon. Brad Hazzard, MP, has now confirmed the NSW position and made an Order under the Public Health Act 2010 which now bans mass gatherings, places restrictions on other gatherings and requires the closure of caravan parks and camping grounds.

Please read the excerpts from the Public Health (COVID-19 Gatherings) Order (No 2) 2020 below that applies to all our parks:

1. The Minister directs that the following must not be open to members of the public except as provided in this clause

(n) caravan parks and camping grounds, except for purposes of

(i) accommodating permanent residents of the caravan park or camping ground or other persons who have no other place of permanent residence, and

(ii) allowing visitors to visit persons referred to in subparagraph

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

  1. Travellers already in a Reflections Holiday Park with no other permanent address will be allowed to stay.
  2. Travellers who have no permanent address who plan to stay in a park will be allowed to do so unless impacted by travel bans and state closures. You will need to complete the Exceptional Travel Booking Enquiry form on our website.
  3. Travellers who are holidaying or have a permanent address elsewhere will not be allowed to check into the park after midnight tonight.

DO YOU HAVE A CURRENT BOOKING?

At this time, we understand that you may have questions relating to your future booking with Reflections Holiday Parks. At the moment we have a high volume of enquiries and appreciate your patience. Our cancellation policy can be found on our website.

Please stay safe and continue to hold close the idea of the great Australian holiday.

The park where I am presently staying on the mid north coast has closed and not taking any bookings. Holiday bookings have been cancelled as per the NSW Health minister's decision.

However, those who do not have a permanent address are permitted to stay on.

A number of parks in the area are advertising that travellers without a permanent address can come and stay.

A neighbour of mine has just returned to Brissy from a group tour down as far as the Flinders Ra in SA.

He doesn't paint a pretty picture.

It seems that where they could get into CPs the Ablution blocks were usually closed.  Wherever there were bush camps with toilets they were crowded out.

Close to the border in places like eg. Cunnamulla, although there were limited restricted CP spots available, there were lots of caravans parked up in the streets around town.  The Showgrounds at Goondiwindi like many others were closed.  Seems like there are lots of vans on the road trying to get home.

In fact he drove all the way from Cunnamulla to Bris in one hit, some 800km and that was after several 500km/day stints.   Fortunately he has long range tanks and was not troubled by a couple of places that were short of fuel.

I'm certain that the best place to be at the moment is at home or staying put in your current spot.  Only more restrictions lie ahead IMHO.

Good information, and advice there, Cupie

I crossed the SA to WA border, about one week before it became restricted/14 day self quarantine

The wife asked the lady quarantine inspector, about the rumour, about border closure/restrictions

She did not know anything about it

Just goes to show, how very quickly, thing are changing

Passing through Peterborough (SA) today. The popular RV camp is closed. The toilet block in town, though open, has signs saying due to the current emergency, no toilet paper will be supplied in the amenities. We used the dump point and topped up with water and drove on to Manna Hill. (Using only our own amenities all the way)

Have heard the Recreational grounds in Broken Hill are closed. The two caravan parks are still open. They must be rubbing their hands together. No discounts appear to being offered. Unlike the park in the Grampians in Victoria.

The very same bloke that allowed 2700 people on a CRUISE SHIP sneak into SYDNEY overnight and disembark and disappear into sunset without question, some overseas...he hasn't shown his face since and seemingly gone into 'hibernation'...but still has a job obviously, as he has issued this communique to internal homeward bound Australian travellers that are trying to get home and are traceable..go figure?

Ah Politicians, don't you just love em!

This fellow is a prize dunderhead. The manager of the caravan park in which I am presently stopping has had no response to his inquiries as to what he is supposed to be doing.

He has just decided that all people who have no permanent residence can reside in his park for the foreseeable future. People with holiday bookings have been informed that their bookings have been cancelled and offered a refund or a credit. He has taken the view that it is dangerous to have people travelling around and has just made the decision himself.

I understand that it is an evolving situation but surely someone who is a minister can make an informed decision and then communicate this decision in a precise manner.

Isn't that their job? I wonder if he will be taking a pay cut or is his stupidity considered essential.

He shouldn't even be there, he should have been sacked after the RUBY PRINCESS disaster.
