As if Coronavirus was not enough!

We must have missed this one!

Jubilation over much needed rain in central west Queensland has turned to disappointment as graziers watch their paddocks being devoured, helpless to stop it.

For the second year in a row, an infestation of grasshoppers has hit the Winton region.

The plague is so bad in some places the grasshoppers have chewed chair legs and demolished books inside a homestead.

Jon,
A yearly thing! They were bad out there during Easter last year. And the weather is good for them - nice warm days in the mid to high 30s.

Be careful nomads (if you get through the closed borders) - if you see kites or eagles on or near the roads, slow down. They eat grasshoppers, amongst other snacks.
Eagles "stay their food", stopping something else from pinching it - even if what is approaching is a car, truck. And due to their size & weight, they are slow to take off.
