I gather you are talking the Eyre Penisula . There is an almost brand new caravan park 5ks north of the Streaky Bay townsite that is a beaut. Called Streaky Bay Islands. Very impressive park right on the coast. Would highly recommend it. One of the best we have stayed in. You to turn left off the highway just on the northern outskirts of the town. There are sign posts. All bitumen road to the park.

Totally agree with Greg in recommending the Streaky Bay Islands Caravan a the place to stay
. Absolutely immaculate park in an incredible location. Great place to base yourself while touring the west coast of the Ayr Peninsular.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I would base at Streaky Bay, as the town has a bit better services to offer for your stay. Both are pretty little spots.

We used to stock up in Streaky and head to Smoky Bay CP, great camp kitchen, nice and quiet, good beach for walks with the dog. The same when coming from the West, stock up in Ceduna and head to Smoky, avoid the crowds where possible.

Cheers Bob.

I came here hoping for a discussion about bacon. Extremely disappointed.

I have stayed at both Smoky and Streaky Bays and have found them pretty good.
The Smoky Bay park can get pretty busy at times and sites are small but you can walk to the jetty and catch KG whiting.
The new park at Streaky Bay that Greg mentioned is a beauty and I would go there in preference to other van park options..

If I were splitting hairs and had to chose one I think I would go to Streaky as the town is nearby for any supplies.

Cheers

Ivan

Love the oysters from both & even from Ceduna.

But the KG Whiting from the gaps in the reeds off Streaky are a bonus.

The best oysters in Australia come from Ceduna & Smoky Bay!

The Sydney-siders might chew my head off, though.

If time is a concern, stop at Ceduna as you have to deviate off the highway to go to either Streaky or Smoky Bay. You can buy the oysters out near the Fruit Fly Block.
