Planning to tour Wanaaring to Wilcannia in a month or so, and have done the road south of Wanaaring back in 2003 & 2008. Both times through White Cliffs and both times through the Paroo -Darling National Park passing by Peery Lake.
Google seems to indicate that there is now another route touring 75k west of Wanaaring and then south to White Cliffs. Has anyone any experience of this?
Cheers

Also the older I get the more I realise I do not know.
Best checking conditions closer to your travel date/s. Roads out there subject to the vagaries of weather and time since last graded.
Thanks Possum3, we have already got onto the Paroo-Darling Roads reports newsletters, and also wish to hear of any real life experiences of any Forum members. The concern is that we may well be "out there" when a shower of rain means that the road we are on gets shut. Mind you we carry about three weeks supplies and have on board some 300l of water when we start out on remote roads, so we won't be in want if we are l shut in.
Cheers Ian

A few years back we left Wanaaring and headed down the Strezleki when the rains came about 50 klms out of town. It took the entire day in low range 4WD to get back to town (with about 5 litres left in the sub-tank)

We hurriedly got out of Mutawintji NP in 2016 before the rain set in & road closures to get to White Cliffs. Took quite a few hours, burnt through a lot of fuel, but we had plenty.
In Wilcannia that evening it took 2 hours getting the mud off around the wheels. That night half a dozen 4WDs arrived from the south. The only patch of the cars that one could recognise was where the windscreen wipers had been.
We Spock to the Wilcannia Council next day & pay for camping, all the roads had been closed.
