May not be travelling with our dog Merlin again

Our dog Merlin, the minature poodle, may not be travelling with us again as he is in hospital in Armidale, with suspected Diabetes, he has been seriously unwell these past 3 days, not keeping food down, drinking water non stop, and vomiting that back up straight away. His keytones are 2.5 which is very high, and was reading 14 on his blood test. THe vet said he is 50/50, to survive. He is 11years old, and maybe be his time, just don't want him to suffer as he goes. Worst thing was, we did not have and still do not have the funds for this, as had a terrible xmas, with as yet unfixed broken down car. Just lucky vet is prepared to wait for payment.  And just lucky, we found someone to drive us the 160km to the  vet this afternoon. Don't know how we will pick him up. Just hoping he will get better.

Gees mate. Sorry to hear your run of bad news. Had a very bad run with our Smithfield cattle dog last year and can understand where you are coming from. And the car trouble as well. All I can say is keep your chin up. You live in one of the nicest places Ive ever been to. All the best bc. Regards Pete.

UPDATE: Our dog Merlin, put up a brave fight, but passed away at 4.05 am, this morning Mon 20 Jan 20. He apparently sat up at 10.20pm last night, to wonder what all the fuss was about, so she gave him a little water, because he was clawring at the cage, and this settled him down. He was on a drip, and getting insulin injections, small amounts hourly to bring his levels up, but it was not to be. He has now been buried in the family plot, at home with the other pets. Thankyou for your concern. He will be sorely missed by both my wife and I, his brother Milo and his sister Molly, Milo, has been crying most of the afternoon, since he saw him today.

We never get over losing them, we just learn to live without them.
Our boy is 16 yrs old and when he goes , I am going to have him Cremated.
That way he can still travel with us
So sorry for your loss

My current boy when he passes hopefully at least a decade away or more, will be cremated, because, I don't go anywhere without him, including the toilet. He is just there, as was Merlin, geesus I miss him, it has been a hard week. I would like to get another poodle for Milo, as a companion, because they were never apart, but my wife is not ready, and I don't think it would be fair on Merlin, to replace him so quickly, even though Milo is so lost without a companion. Molly is here but they do not interact with each other much, and she remains in the other office with my wife mostly. So am up in the air as to what to do about it. Will probably just wait for the next one to come along at the right time. This is how they all came along, excluding Milo whom is my AD. I find it more painful losing a pet companion, then loosing a family human member, and wish they lived as long as we do.
