Nullarbor fuel

Hi All

Just following on from the recent Nullabor posts, does anyone have the latest diesel fuel prices between Ceduna and Norseman, thanks.

Fuel Map Australia is a good App to tell you prices anywhere in Australia, found it very good

I use 98 petrol where I can, the extra price is paid for by longer range. Coming east I fill up in Esperance or Kalgoorlie, top up in Norseman, refuel in Ceduna. If a strong headwind get a bit on the way.

An extra 50 litres on the car.

Use motormouth for city prices.

It makes no difference in the long run, it is important to re-fuel when you get the chance going across the Nullarbor - extra fuel only adds weight so cents saved on purchase are utilised to power your rig (always carry minor amount for emergencies).
I must admit though a few years back paying $2.60/litre out there really hurt - but not as much as being stranded and needing a call-out would.

Top up when you can and be thankful it's available. Using jerry cans to extend you range might work but leave you nothing for emergencies (you or someone else).

Coming down the Stuart Highway this year I gave someone 10 litres of petrol so they could get to the next service station. Always keep some spare fuel.

One is only paying extra for difference compared to city prices. So let's say an additional 50 cent per litre, it's not the end or the world, & you don't have a lot inefficient start stop traffic out there.

Hi tracks
Hopefully this is for the interest of anyone, thinking of travelling the Nullarbor, in the very near future, as fuel prices change

Here are all the Nullarbor prices, from Petrol Spy for diesel, as at 28 December 2019, and how long ago someone put the prices up

Norseman 159.9 to 168.1 cpl (two servos in that town, price as of 2 minutes ago)

Balladonia 197.7 cpl (price 2 hours ago)

Caiguna 201 cpl (price 4 hours ago)

****lebiddy 198 cpl (price 4 hours ago)

Madura 195 cpl (price 5 hours ago)

Mundrabilla 189 cpl (price 6 hours ago)

Eucla 189 cpl (price 7 hours ago)

Border Village 213 cpl (price 9 hours ago)

Nullarbor Roadhouse 208 cpl (price 18 days ago)

Nundroo 156.9 cpl (price 5 days ago)

Penong 156.9 cpl (price 6 days ago)

Ceduna between 133.9 to 154.9 cpl (prices from 24 hour to more than one month ago) there are 7 fuel outlets, in that town

As general information to everyone, not knowing what other vehicles others have, I can only go by my own vehicle, as per my Avatar

In my worst scenario I have never got less than 7.5 kilometres to the litre (13.3 litres per 100 kilometres)

The Nullarbor from Norseman WA, to Ceduna SA, is about 1,100 kilometres

I therefore expect to use (at my worst scenario), 146 litres of fuel, on that section of the trip

The highest mean price of 186 cpl (assuming I top up at every roadhouse, on the Nullarbor, as well as using the highest price at Norseman and Ceduna)

This average mean price of 186 cpl, is 40 cents per litre, more than my home town of Bunbury WA

I therefore expect to pay an extra $58 or so over that 1,100 section of an approximated 10,000 kilometre road trip

I will not try and say that everyone, shalt pay the higher prices on the Nullarbor

But I will point out that to the best of my knowledge, when travelling from the east to the west, the Nullarbor, is the only bitumen road

What I usually do, is to purchase either food or fuel, at alternative roadhouses
If I happen to miss any, then I will take a mental note, and stop on the return trip

Thank you Tony Bev and everyone for the info, I have long range tanks which can get me from Ceduna to Norseman easily, my friend who is doing the trip soon will have to fill a twice from Ceduna so the info is much appreciated.

Thanks Tony Bev you just explained why I didn t go for a long range tank based on your figures and the ones rough ones I did I'd have to do the Nullabor about 27 times to get back the $1500 outlay. I only have a 400k range so enjoy the break and stretching the legs whilst filling . Keeping your tanks pretty well topped up was highlighted by the recent fire which closed the road at Coolgardie holding up fuel deliveries for all the roadhouses .
Bottom line there's nothing you can do about the fuel price so just go and enjoy the drive.

In 1966, there was a c-o-c-k-y in a bird cage, at the C-o-c-k-l-e-b-i-d-d-y roadhouse

In 1970, I did not see it, (may have been on holiday)
