Rollout awning

Looking at a 16' caravan. What would it cost to buy and fit an awning.

There are a few ways to go about it.

Jillaroo in Clontarf sell complete kits from $650 including arms and instructions. I looked at Jillaroo and to replace the Vinyl awning for my rig was $650 and that's six meters long Vinyl only. Must be others around the country that do the same thing. Gumtree always have ads selling them as well. One on there today for a couple of hundred bucks. Harden in NSW

A cheap alternative is to buy a length of Sailtrack and pop rivet and Sikaflex the length on the side of your van. Get a rope sewn into one side of a length of Ripstop Nylon or similar, and some Eyelets on the other side and use standard Tent poles with guy ropes. An upholstery mob should be able to sew the rope into the ripstop for a few buck. and also put in the eyelets as well. If you have a partner with a sewing machine so much the better. I did that a few years ago on an LWB Mazda E2000 and it did the job.

Just out of curiosity I did a search here on items to sell and there is a recent post for one.I believe it's in Strathpine a Northern Suburb of Brisbane.

Very interesting post from Yobarr I'll have to look there myself.I'm still in the market for a six metre Vinyl replacement Awning.

Hi Pat.....After 3 fruitless visits to the  company already suggested,I went to see Aussie Traveller, also in Clontarf.First impressions were not good,as nobody seemed interested in getting up from their desk to talk, but from there on it was a fantastic experience. The range of product is outstanding, all in a huge warehouse, and eventually I bought lots of stuff there, including an 18 roll-out awning at a very good price.Easily fitted, and a great bit of gear.Phone is 1300 663868.Cheers.

I have a 16ft van. I have two issues with an awning 1/ as I've already built the van at a cost of several thousands of dollars its time to reign in the spending 2/ I want a 3m x 3m awning. So I'll modify a Oran 4x4 rooftop awning to mount on the side of my van. $220
