As far as I understand they have air bag assisted leaf springs on the front. Not knowing the actual vehicle I have to assume that the airbags PSI can be altered to give a softer ride or harder if necessary.

If it is a second hand unit the leaf springs can lose their stiffness after a while and may need resetting by a suspension specialist but that needs to be assessed by a professional suspension outfit.

Since the Longreach is based on a well proven truck there will be lots of places that can advise you.

Yes they are leaf springs and airbags, I run our airbags at 30 psi, remember they are an 8.7 ton truck most likely loaded to about 7.5 tons. The only road I considered rough was Cloncurry to Hughenden, some fairly sharp culverts and one had to watch for them. Most other roads are non event, we have only done 12,000 km on a vehicle which has done 100,000km. At least you can load up what you want and know you will not be overweight. Easy to drive with high seating position, cruise control and good responsive engine.

I just bought a second hand Longreach 2012 , Airbags front and back with parabolic springs , terrible ride , so I went to Carroll springs who changed to multi leaf springs , cost about $2500 front and back , airbags run at 10psi , nice smooth ride now.

I have the smaller Explorer. They tend to have springs way too firm With little travel in leaf springs due to payload being much higher when designed as truck . I have less spring in back .The leafs are different lengths to give progressive bump action . 5 to 20 lb in air bags . Much better ride . Was going tyre Higher aspect Ratio option ? Glad I didnt .
