Lithium Battery Systems

Hi has anyone installed a lithium battery system from LBS products from QLD? I can't find any reviews. Thanks in advance.

Not personally, but a bloke at the Men's Shed here has been waxing lyrical over them. reckons they's the duck's nuts. I will be talking to him later to find out what he thinks after the trip.

Can't find how much they weigh on the website so would steer clear until you find out. Price seems to low for the supposed Ah rating.

I don't have one but I recently went to a presentation by the company and was very impressed by their knowledge and products, and the ability to custom make to suit your needs. The batteries and BMS systems are assembled in Brisbane and I would certainly consider them if I needed lithium.

Again all 4 batteries weigh 30 lbs according to the blurb for each battery. No individual weights given. Giving weights in Lbs instead of Kgs makes me think they are not assembled in Brisbane, but imported assembled from China where they are aimed at the American market. I for one would not buy until a lot more info is supplied about these batteries. Things like max charge and discharge current, upper and lower voltage disconnect voltages of the bms controller. Also 18 months warranty does not say much for their faith in the durability of these units.

Think the lbs is for their name as company name is Lithium Battery Systems.Batteries show 30 kg on their website.

Hadn't seen this company before, thanx Sergio.

I contacted them for info and it seems pretty good to me.

They use tier 1 LFP prismatic cells in all their batteries, they import 50Ah and 100Ah cells in 5000 unit orders, so not just a fly by ight company.

Their drop in batteries have a BMS that monitors at cell level, with cutouts for both high and low cells.

They have drop ins that you can connect your solar into directly, no solar controller required.

You can also connect your alternator into it direct.

None of this was what I was after however they do what I was looking for.

I wanted a 600Ah @ 24v system.

they can do that, they supply the cells, connectors etc to build it up.

The BMS they can supply will take all my 3000w solar input direct, no other management required.

My alternator supply will connect directly into it, no dc to dc required.

it comes with a remote monitor to see what is happening from inside my bus.

And it's about $3000 cheaper than the best I have had quoted so far.

They provide 3 years warranty and unlimited phone up support.

Comes with comprehensive instructions so that most can follow  easily.

And it fits my KISS approach.

1 battery, 1 controller.

I will be looking into it further.

Cheers,

Hodgie each battery has exactly the same description and all are listed as "weighing in at 30lbs" . ie imperial measurement. I still think they are imported units complete with Chinglish paperwork in spite of what they say. Their website tells you sweet FA about what they want you to buy. You must be looking at a different website as I can find no other weights listed.

I can't find any reference to any battery listed with weight in pounds.

You sure your on the right web page? - everything I see is in Kgs

Having spoken to Chris (the owner of the business - definately not Chinese) on the phone the only thing he imports are the LFP cells, He states they are all Tier1 quality.

He has designed and manufactured the BMS components with cell monitoring and he has incorporated many features that aren't available in them elsewhere.

The battery boxes are made by him locally also.

Check out the BIC spec batteries to see what I mean.

I have only seen these for the first time after reading the first post and checking them out.

I suggest if you are interested you talk to the man himself.

He emailed me a quote within hours of speaking with him and has answered all of my questions.

 Hi smile

I do not believe that old saying. But it is very easy to get less than you pay for in life. The protection against that is to carefully do your research before you buy and do not believe the BS that sales people(or politicians) tell you to your face. They are good at 'stretching' the truth. A fool and his money are easily parted is another old saying !

But careful research will often get a good product at a reasonable price. That is my life lesson !!biggrin

Good searching Jaahn

We had a LBS from Chris's installed for approximately 18mths now & we have been free camping 98% of the time since installed in our 25ft OB Silverline whilst doing the big lap. We have 820W Solar x 4000w inverter x 2 25amp chargers x 400 amp of lithium batteries & still run the standard Jayco system in conjunction with Chris's setup so if we want to sell the caravan we can take out the LBS system. We are happy with the set up, price & support. Cheers Trev

Hopefully the LBS will last quite a few more years yet, still going strong & have paid for themselves easily........How long is a piece of string!

Cheers

Taking the advertised 2000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, if you did that every day they would last 4.5 years.
In reality that wont happen, you might take them to 50% most days.
This would mean extending the life to perhaps double.
And this is just till the lose some percenatge of charge/discharge ability.
If after 7 years they were still at 80% efficiency, would that worry you much??

There is no doubt in my mind that a properly sorted Lithium setup will outlive me.
Don't think I will budget to replace them.

Cheers,
