Rain Rain SNOW & Rain

Two weeks ago in the lower Blue Mountains we had a small bushfire and also near Lidsdale where we had a 360 ha wild fire we now have glorious rain right across the mountains and at Katoomba a good dump of snow. I hope that the fires in northern NSW & QLD get some of this rain in the near future. We are currently on potentially our last caravan trip down the south Coast of NSW, we wish all the members of the forum many more happy miles out in the Big Playground.

We got a very little bit of rain in the Brisbane 'burbs this evening.  Not enough to put out any bushfires though, probably didn't even make a difference to my tank level.

Let's hope that the bush-fire areas like Binna Burra, Stanthorpe & The Sunshine Coast got a drenching.

I think that we too have had our last trip down the East Coast.  Our Autumn trip this year took us along the coast to the Great Ocean Road & back home thru the Grampians, Western NSW and along the Qld Southern border.   After another trip to Winton & SW Qld next year we might just confine ourselves to short trips within 500k or so of Brissy.

We're planning to stay home more from next year on. We've done over 100,000 kms over 8 years towing our caravan plus a 3-4 week fly hire a car trip each year. Basically we're travel weary & love our home near the beach south of Melbourne. We're up near Katherine NT on a fly/drive hire a motor home trip at the moment, won't be going away for 6 months when we get home. Dragging a box on wheels around for 6 months of every year can get very boring at times, particularly when one has been travelling extensively for 40+ years during ones working years.

I gave it away 2 years ago for another reason (the health of my wife), otherwise I would continue on my way as I love travelling in the caravan and meeting all the different people.
However, having purchased a home in Port Douglas, I now spend 6 months here and 6 months back home in Kiama NSW which is also a beach location so I have found another happiness and life with several good friends that I have made up here...in that regard, I no longer miss the caravanning so much and am now going to sell me van on my return.

Life takes many twists and turns and you have to take every opportunity to accept and enjoy each phase as best that you can....change can often be a wonderful thing, it only has to be accepted, challenged and enjoyed, I am now finding that life has improved, it is just a shame that my wifes condition doesnt allow her to see the roses in the same light as I am able to.
