My husband and I are both South African. We have been camping all our lives in SA. At the moment we tow an off-road trailer (fully kitted out) with a Toyota Fortuner and travel to Botswana/Namibia/Zimbabwe and have been to Zambia as well.
We are thinking of possibly coming over to Oz next year and travelling around in a campervan or something similar. We lived in Oz in 1998 for a year but unfortunately had to return back to South Africa where we have now retired. We were based on the gold coast in Robina and would love to just travel around Oz slowly to really enjoy what there is to offer. As we are both pensioners (and South African) our Rands do not stretch very far therefore our funds are pretty limited.
If there is anybody out there that can help us in any way we would really appreciate it very much.
Kind regards,
Rose Douglas
PS: My husband is 70 and I am 64..... Not sure if it is relevant.... Age is just a number
Your best bet would be to buy a ex backpacker van, they are always for sale at backpacker accomadion places close to international airports as they often leave it until the very last to sell. Some bargains can be had. Toyota hi ace and simular
