Southern Visitors during our warm winter months

We are currently at the NRMA Caravan Park in Woodgate Qld. Woodgate is on the ocean in land from Childers and  is between Maryborough and Bundaberg.

All of our Neighbours are here for 3 to 4 months. Majority are from Victoria. They appear to have a permanent yearly winter booking.

Great conversationalist and I also like a chat.

Woodgate is a nice place to escape to, but there are virtually no shopping facilities so must come fully laden.

Ok there is a small grocery store, hardware, Dr.,  Chemist, Pub, bowling club & C.Park.

C.Park has a kiosk.

We will be back home by 1st July, as we have family arriving from Victoria ( School Holidays.)

Have you visited Woodgate or for that matter Queensland?

WE very rarely visit C.Parks as we are avid bush campers.

Happy Days

I for one am in QLD as we speak John, in the tropics actually as in Townsville and will be for a while yet. I could actually live here but me and cyclones and floods don't get on so will have to stay a Mexican. I do move around as well being a full time GN.

A nice area though all around the area you mention as well.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Yes it is a great spot with the wildlife wandering about the streets & the locals launching their fishing boats from tractors on the beach.

The only problem we found was the sandflies in summer.  Probably OK at the moment though.

ps. Our beaut washing machine would be handy up there ... (private joke .. sorry.)

We camped in Woodgate National Park back in the mid 80's, great land based fishing back then. Glad that we did a lot of QLD back when it was a lot quieter.

Price has skyrocketed since NRMA took it over.

From 1 July $42 PN for a powered site, so they won't being seeing me anytime soon.

Its interesting that people move to what they consider warm climate for the winter

I spent almost 10 years in Darwin area where its always hot even Cairns is down south

I'm not far from Woodgate atm and still have trouble with what I consider as cold weather here. brrrrr

I go there for the occasional quick weekend away. Usually stay at the van park behind the pub. Modern clean amenities, and good meals.
Woodgate is what Hervey Bay would have looked like 70 or 80 years ago - just a small village beside a great beach.

Wrong... born and bred in this great State of Queensland, that why there are so many Mexicans up here at the moment.

Well it is not out land from Childers.

But it is inland towards the coast which happens to have the Pacific Ocean splashing on the shores of Woodgate.

I guess that what I should have said for those of you is that it is east of
Childers heading towards the coast line of Queensland.

Anyway hope you end up at Woodgate as it is a great spot for a holiday. Just ask all of those Victorian and N.S. W. folks  who are up here for the winter.

WE left Woodgate on Friday 28th June 19 and we paid $150 for 5 nights = $30 night.

But!!! as from Friday 28th the School holidyas are with us, so I guess that would be the reason for the price hike.

The 3-4 months southerners tell me that will have to pay the increase over the holiday period.

A bit rough, I reckon.... as these people have been / and will be there for up to 4 months.

With out them during the winter months this and many other parks would starve for patronage.

But the Market controls the pricing.
