address

Hello, we are a couple not retired looking to travel oz and work whilst travelling. We are in Tasmania and plan to return to this beautiful state. Any info greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. Please can you advise us how we can get an address whilst away? We are currently renting a house but as soon as we leave we are not able to use that as an address. We don't have relatives or friends to lodge as an address. We need an address for medicare/bank/car insurance/storage insurance. 1.can we buy a block of residential land with the plan to build on it and use it as our address? 2. If we bought a unit and rented It out, would we be able to use that as an address?

buy your block of land and get a PO box in suburb , get mail forward to your locations when working. We had 5 years doing the work around aus and never got out of WA. Getting itchy feet now, doing up a coaster and intend holidaying in the horth east. Up the centre to Darwin and across the top and down the east coast. You will enjoy

ps most of your accounts can be emailed to you

It works on Kangaroo Island, for example buy a block on land & it is the mailing address for offshore detention centres at $1600 per day per person. The government has no issues with the mailing address.

The po box side is fine. It is the question of car insurance, Medicare and ergo which need a physical address. Can someone give us some pointers. Thank you.

I have no physical residential address .

Some organisations require one (bank etc) so I just give them a van park where I stay.

Or use a friends place of residence.

Just ensure that all mail is sent by email only direct that no mail be sent to any address.

The biggest problem I had was with electoral commission during the latest election. I finally got onto a section that understood the issue.

Re insurances, rego and licences. They require a physical address at the time you take out the policy, buy a car for rego or licence. Just stay at a van park and they will use that.

You have to change your address only after living in a state for 3 months. Just check that your mail is only ever sent via email. Havent had a problem for nearly years

If you are the type that requires to physically collect mail, just have it sent to the nearest post office. You can also have parcels sent to the post office

Just make sure that you the address as follows

Your name

c/- Post Restante

town name Post Office

address

town, state, post code

We have a permanent address, but when we go on long trips, like 6 months or more, I just transfer mail from PO to PO, as I need an address as well don't use our emails for that, and want physical records. We do have a couple of other blocks of land, and extra here in NSW and one in QLD, for rego of the van, as we have a campertrailer rego'ed and motor vehicle here in NSW using up the Pensioner concessions.

Plenty of advice on here may i suggest the search bar as this has been discussed many a time.

But here is a starter you could use your accountant, many company's reg there also your solicitor if you have one. How about friends.
Their a lots of mail forwarding agencies around for mail but suggest if possible have as much sent to your email (Rego, insurance ect ).

Sorry to hear you have no family, well best of luck i'm sure someone will be along soon with more info.

PS i have copied and pasted my post from your post in tips & hints.

Buying a block of land is going to the extreme you need to keep it simple, if you reg as no fixed abode with AEC you don't have to vote in any State or Federal elections.
