Axles

Hi campers Is it compulsory to have solid axles in QLD.  After l breaking an axle they were found to be tubular.  I was informed by the caravan repairer that in QLD they should have been solid. I have since been informed that need not be solid depending on the weight of the van, so is there a set rule or does it depend on the van manufacturer. thanks

The manufacturer of the chassis calculates the load capacity of the axles - As they're self regulating industry they are "As designed" and legal throughout Australia.

Where are they breaking ? Where its welded just inside hub ? Check its bump stops if it has any ? Chances are its hitting chassis or frame and shock loading axle ?? Some long rubber bump stops can save axles big time !!! Take it easy over bad roads . Vans DONT have the suspension of tow vehicle !! Chances are it has NO shocks !!
