State of Origin

There are a number of us Aussies over here in Kwazulu Natal that are keen to watch the first state of origin but unfortunately its on around 11am our time, is not on TV over here and even it it were we are going to be at worK. Lucky for us one of the guys paid for a subscription to Telstras NRL channel so we plan to watch the recorded version tonight using a hdmi cable from his laptop to the TV. Being a mixture of Queenslanders and New South Welshman - it is going to be interesting when in the heat of battle the 10 of us crammed into his 1 bedroom cabin have a few Carling Black Labels under our belts. Anyhow for those fans of the game enjoy the occasion (regardless of the outcome) Im sure that we are going to.

Cheers

BB

You'll love the result.

The goodies got there once again, over the team with the 'best fullback' in the game & the 'best player' in the world .. according to Gus & the NSW media, who BTW was sent off for 10min for a professional foul   .. just up to his normal vengeful play IMO.   He IS a great player but just can't control his emotions.

Why the bloody hell are we playing the next game in Perth.  Surely another Lang Park sell out would be better.

And here was I thinking that Kevie had lost the plot what with his 'Coach Whisperer' et al.  It was soo sad to see how downcast Freddie & Gus were  .. not. LOL

I hate to say it Cupie but the best side probably won, although I wasnt going to admit anything like that to the Qld supporters. We had a great night with the game put up on the big screen,  the locals were  trying to work out what was actually going on. One of the Zulu girls told me that she was very concerned about whether they still had any teeth left after the game. Anyhow we will gain our revenge on you cane toads in the next one in Perth - it will be the same venue for us.....

Cheers

BB

What a game, close all the way really but it looked like the Cane Toads might swing the other way on the night BUT then came half time and out they jumped croaking as they were jumping out. Holy cane toads NRL the mighty cane toads were victorious once again and the night was saved.

Now of course if I was still in Young NSW I would have been a disappointed follower smilesmilesmilesmile

Go Storm! I will also follow the Cowboys now I am in their home town.

A copy of what I posted on the other thread on this subject ....

.........................................

Well, I never thought I'd find it in my heart to praise the Blues ... But it is so much easier to be unemotional about the game when I have the TV sound on mute & don't have to listen to the Gus Gould & Rabbits rubbish.   I was silent for the whole couple of hours & didn't have even one drink!

I thought that the Blues game changed with their new gear.  They played beautifully for the whole game which is a first in decades.  A clinical destruction of the unimaginative 'one out' play of the once Mighty Maroons.   I find it hard to find any part of the game where the Queenslanders were on top.

But we've been there before & our boys will rise from the ashes once again to stun the ****roaches.

Now I know what the Blues have felt for the last decade or so.

Good on yer .. Cupie !

You've been around here for a long time and you speak well.

Now .. I do love watching many sports. With the origin games and a few others, I like to view the game without a running commentary. The volume is off and I enjoy the matches without that side-line, self-indulgent banter that many of the commentators bathe in ..

Yes .. it was a much better presentation from the Blues. Determination by the ones who wanted it the most, integrated with sound ball possession and speed, seemed to destabilize the Maroons. I'll be looking forward to the next game.

Ron   ..  How come a Victorian is supporting the Blues?

It'll be hard to find new cattle to do the job.  Perhaps recall a few of the Melbourne retirees?  Might even throw out a call to Israel.  LOL
