where to in NSW in winter

Hello again.

I have an opportunity to hook-up the van very soon, but SWMBO wants to to stay within NSW and only away from home 2-3 weeks.

I am domicile in Sydney, and would welcome any / all suggestions for P O I and places to stay with such constraints.

Cheers, KB

Lightning Ridge would take a lot of beating. Opals and Hot bore baths make it perfect, friendly town to boot.

Good idea to stay in NSW, nothing left if you go further north! Sorry!Drought-and-flood.jpg

So you're going back to candle power are you, Whenarewethere?
Keep them away from curtains as they cause a lot of house fires which might warm the place up a bit - LOL.

Possum's got the right idea.

Believe it or not the South Coast is lovely in Winter. calm, sunny, crisp days.

Put a jumper on, life's not all about shorts, t-shirts, thongs & a beer can. imslow.gif

We've spent a large amount of time in the area over many years during the cooler months.

Watching the southern ocean waves crashing onto rocks at Green Cape adjacent the lighthouse is exhilarating.

Lovely drives up in the hinterland around places like Tilba, cheese & wine.

Quite cool in Lightning Ridge in winter in the evenings at night and in the the morning but the other 4 hours is quite good. My choice with the exodus to Old and beyond would be Hat Head/South West Rocks and then Iluka/Yamba.

Hi keiron, there are plenty of places to spend some time along the NSW coast from the Hunter all the way up to the Tweed. I only say the north coast because we live in Lake Macquarie and I hate driving through Sydney. One of our favorite places is the Urunga CP or just down the road at the Repton CP on the banks of the Belinger River. It can still get cold in winter but on the coast it is usually tempered by the sea and is probably Not as cold at night than further inland. If I wasnt working here in South Africa we would would have our van parked somewhere along that coast ourselves.

Cheers
BB
