West Australia Flora 2018 (1)

For those heading to the Wild West for the coming Winter and Spring. Particular those heading North of Perth to such places as Canna, Pinda, Leuseur National Park and Mullewa and further North as well.

This pink one in the ring on the gravelly ground is just stunning - do you know its name?

Shelley thanks for your positive feedback.

Yes, they are Wreath flowers (Lechenaultia maurantha) being their correct name.

In 2018 we were in the Wild West for winter and they had particularly good winter rains. So in August last year between house sitting we mapped out a week heading North to the Wheatbelt. Roughly 1500klms from Perth to Bindon, New Norcia, Latham, Dalwalin, Perenjori, Morawa, Canna, Mullewa and then to Pinda for the Wreath Flowers.

On the way back we did Mingenew, Three Springs, Eneabba before heading to Leuseur NP for the day. That is where a lot of those pics are from.

We headed back via Juren Bay, Cervantes, and finally to the best NP camp close to Perth. Yanchep NP.

This is our second time to the Wheat Belt and Mullewa/Pinda during August/Sept.

Nothing like it any other part of this great country, truly amazing flora, spectacular country side with amazing wild flowers with huge back drop of canola planting as far as the eye could see.

The last 4 pics are taken at Yanchep National Park.

Cheers
